Avariwatta Bus Stand

Averiwatta Bus Stand in Katunayake is a useful transport point, but it definitely needs to be further developed to handle the growing number of passengers. Improvements like better seating, clearer signage, and proper shelter would make it more comfortable. Upgrading the facilities would also help reduce congestion during peak hours.

Very convenient bus terminal. We took the bus nr. 1 from here to Kandy, it took us about 3.5 hours, there is NO AC, but the windows were open, so no stress! The bus got crowded over the time, people had to stand but we sat from the begining, again no problem. Ticket price was 374 Rp. All in all, a great experience, we would do it again!

Very convenient bus stand. Long and short distance and highway bus available. The long distance bus are leaving at 4.00 am to 8.00am and after 8 am long distance buses are available at specific time. Colombo highway bus available here first bus starts at 5.00 am and last bus 8 pm. There are some cheat people,please in your mind your bags, mobile phone and other valuable things. The bus conductors also very Chet people, they asking double tickets price from foreigners. There is no short term or long term car park. Bus stand is not much clean. Colombo katunayake expresses way bus are very clean, buses are air conditioned. You can travel to Colombo within 30 minutes but make sure take express way bus. Before you get bus ask weather it highway or normal way.

담불라가는 중간 지점까지 바로가는 버스가 있다고 해서 찾아갔으나 2시간 기다려야 한다고 해서 콜롬보 이동후 담불라로 이동했습니다. 콜롬보 버스스탠드까지 1시간 에어컨 버스 280루피 콜롬보에서 담불라까지 로컬 버스로 5시간 소요 약 700루피 지불 사진의 버스는 로컬버스이며 번호는 참조하지 마세요.

The cheapest way to Colombo City Center is No. 187 bus which is departs from Awariwatta Bus Stand (750m ahead of the airport) 150 rps per person. And it take’s 45 minutes. You can come here from airport by tuktuk for 200 rps. Or you can walk, the road is flat.

As a regular commuter buses are always available for different parts of the country from here.

No proper displayed bus time table and very dirty place, even toilets are so unpleasant. There are long-distance buses starting from here to many cities. It is very useful. Although better to improve all the facilities since It gives attitudes for foreigners as well.

Today (Sunday 1 June 2025) at noon I took bus 187 from here to Colombo Fort. It’s about a 15 minutes walk from the airport. It was an AC standard bus that I got on (not the mini van type). On the bus, l confirmed the fare was 300 rupees with a few local passengers. 30 minutes later when the bus was almost full, it departed. The bus conductor tried to scam me by showing 600 on his phone. I handed him 300 and he took it and said something I didn’t understand. So beware of scam. It took less than an hour to reach the central bus stand, the traffic was light on the way, faster than I expected.

So busy area and hidden around the airport. When suddenly came into the bustand its difficult to find the airport.

It's near CMB airport but service and the place in very poor condition which can't be accepted.

Unfortunately, the Avariwatta bus stop is not well-maintained. Due to poor public behavior, there is often an unpleasant smell, and the area feels neglected. It’s a reminder that public spaces are valuable resources, and everyone must be more responsible in how they use and maintain them. Better management and more public awareness are needed to improve the condition of this place.

No proper public sound system, Rainy days big mess. No proper toilets or washroom.
