Ansoo means tear, and the lake is literally in the shape of a tear drop or a water drop. It is located in the Kaghan Valley. It is tough to get to the lake which also explains why the lake was undiscovered even by locals before 1993 when it was discovered by Pakistan Air Force pilots who were flying low in the area.

After hours of difficult trekking, sometimes the lake gets covered inside fog and blocks the view. So, it is said that only lucky ones can see this lake. A hill comes after 5 hours of trekking and seeing at the lower side you will see this magical lake. Travel some more and reach near this lake to cherish the beauty of this lake. The best time to visit this lake is July to August as in the remaining months of the year it remains covered with the snow.

The Ansoo Lake, which was discovered by the Pakistan Air Force pilots while flying over Kaghan valley in 1993, is still inaccessible for the nature lovers. The Ansoo- or tear-shaped lake, which is situated at 13,927 feet above the seal level at the bed of Malika-i-Parbat the highest mountain range in Kaghan valley is still untouched as tourists coming to the valley to enjoy its scenic beauty couldn’t reach there because of the difficult terrain of the high mountains.

Ansoo Lake is considered as one of the World’s elegant lake. It is discovered in 1993 by pilot of PAF (PAF stands for Pakistan Air Force) who were flying low in the area. Basically, Ansoo Lake is situated near Queen Parbat. It is one of the highest mountain of Kaghan Valley. The lake resembles a human eye. Name “Ansoo” comes from its tear like shape. It takes six to ten hours from Saif ul Malook Lake to Ansoo Lake. But your tiredness feelings automatically convert to ecstasy when you reach the destination. Air is very thin here. But one big problem is that, there is no such as place for stay at Ansoo Lake like guest houses, rooms and hotels etc. Moreover, the track is very dangerous but scenery is just love. You feel yourself in heaven. At night, beautiful romantic environment is just eye loving view. Ansoo Lake is a picturesque place. It is one of the adventurous trip ever. If you have oxygen problem, never ever visit Ansoo Lake in winters. Ansoo Lake is such a cold, peaceful and calm place. Best place for relaxation ever. Certainly ansoo lake is one of the most toughest lake I've ever visited. It can be reached from two sides. One is from mahandri. That causes two days of hiking. The other one is from lake saifulmalook . This track takes six hours of steep hiking. But the tiredness changes into ecstasy when you reach there.
