Tukche Thakali Kitchen

One of the go to Thakali restaurants for me. Love the ambiance. Love the staff service. Love the taste if food. May be i should try other foods here too except thakali. Parking available for both 2 wheeler and 4 wheelers.

I tried the Thakali Chicken Set and the Veg Thali and honestly, they were beyond my expectations. The flavors felt so pure and authentic...exactly what true Nepali Thakali food should taste like. Every item on the plate had its own distinct taste, perfectly balanced and deeply comforting. The presentation, the freshness and the traditional touch in every bite made the whole meal feel special. Truly one of the best Thakali dining experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!

One of the worst Thakali restaurants in Kathmandu Valley. I would not recommend visiting this place, as it was a complete waste of money. The service was highly disappointing. Salad was not included with the meal, and when we asked for it, we were told to order it separately. We ordered a chicken thali and requested additional gravy, but the staff insisted that we pay extra before serving it. Surprisingly, even papad was not included with the meal. The food quality was poor, and the overall experience was far below expectations. The service was unsatisfactory, and the value for money was extremely poor. Overall, a very disappointing dining experience. What was even more disappointing was their handling of customer feedback. When I posted a comment on their Instagram page describing my experience, the comment was deleted, and I was blocked instead of receiving a response or resolution.

I was recommended by a friend to visit this place and I had high expectations. But this place was nothing as expected. The worst part of this food place is the service and the staff. Honestly, they would almost never smile and give the warm hospitality. The cleanliness here is definitely questionable! There is indoor space and outdoor too. I went inside at first but it was damn too hot, no any provisions of AC. Considering the price, we would expect the suitable temperature inside which was not there. Thus we went outdoors. Outside, the table and chairs were totally old fashioned. Not the ancient type, but the local old school. We waited atleast 10 minutes after which when we asked for water, they provided. Anyone would expect waiters to provide water as soon as we take our seat, but they didn't. Even while taking orders, they werent professional. Considering the cleanliness, the tables are cleaned very slow and I suppose many times customers might have to take seat where the tables arent cleaned- this was my case when I was indoors. In the context of food, I ordered Chicken thakali set. I do say that Daal and Rice were good but Chicken gravy was full of oil. These days any thakali kitchen would bring Ghee as soon as you get your thali, but this wasnt the case here. I had to ask myself for the ghee. But yeah they provided. They also provided me with extra Chicken Gravy which was decent. The pickles here were totally low quality with almost no real pickle taste. I would definitely not recommend anyone to visit this place for food or service. My first visit to this place is surely gonna be the last one!!!

A decent food and’s cozy ambiance. Not that twakka type. Needs a lot of improvements specially in lentil, pickles and rice. Because the price is high so consumer expects better.

My favorite restaurant in KTM!! When I miss home food, it’s Tukche’s thali that I m missing! Love their chicken thali, chowmein and masala coke… highly recommend this place for a quite catch up with family and friends

Food we had: 1. Mutton Dhido Thaali (2.5/5) 2. Chicken Thaali (3/5) Yes, the service and the hospitality are great, but the food wasn't what we were expecting. Compared to other Thakali Kitchens like Tukuche (Jhamshikel) and Daura, the dhido and the rice at this Tukche kitchen were subpar, and so was the chicken. I didn't find the quality and taste of the meat as we had hoped. The place is spacious and has enough parking space.

Went here for thakali with my friend. The service was very good the waiter dai was very attentive. The place is decent. I ate the fish thakali set, but didnt like the fish at all. The fish gravy was full of tomato only and the fish tasted raw too. The other food iteam were decent.

I don’t know why tukche is considered one of the best thakali in Kathmandu when their food is average good at best.. but it’s so expensive price is not worth it .. and to not have additional gravy is crazy with the price they charge

Had the veg nepali thali meal (Thakali) and it was exceptional.! 🌟 Flavors were spot on, portions were generous, and the hospitality was warm. A must-try for authentic local flavors.

Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience. Even though we didn’t end up having food, the service itself was extremely poor. The waiters showed no attention or care towards us, which made us feel unwelcome. Because of this, we decided to leave without ordering. Good service matters just as much as good food—hope they improve this in the future.

Thakalii cuisine do have distinct taste. I really love the ambience . Sitting sunny courtyard having the lunch was mesmerizing time . Although the food variety in veg was not up to the mark and taste from old tukuche to new vary . I think management should improve the standard should on the base pf pricing as well . Variety was less than normal places

This goes for the service and costing of a food. Recently increased the price of a thali to 700+ and when asked for an extra gravy of chicken they just said no add on. We were two and just a little extra gravy would have worked. I am a regular here but not anymore.

The way he handled our table—with calm confidence, efficiency, and genuine warmth—truly elevated our dining experience. His expertise and customer-centric approach reflect the highest standards of hospitality. My entire family was thoroughly delighted, and we are all looking forward to visiting again soon. I'd say the food is average. I had the khana set which is a popular item here. It tasted like a home cooked meal with some items a bit overcooked but not bad to taste. The service here is probably the quickest i have ever seen, i would assume they had everything precooked since we ordered the most ordered item on the menu. Loved the atmosphere the most.

One of the best service in kathmandu the staff shabhu was one of the best the way he cared made it homely environment from a bussy schedule of life. Felt like home
