The Bungalow Galle Fort - Restaurant & Cocktail Bar.

I recently dined at Bucy's restaurant in Galle Fort and wanted to share my experience with you. The atmosphere was lovely, making it a perfect setting for dinner. We started our evening with a nice white wine that complemented the food beautifully. For starters, we ordered calamari and tempura prawns, both of which were delicious. On the recommendation of our waiter, we decided to try the wonton as well, and it did not disappoint! For our main courses, we enjoyed butter chicken and tuna steak. The butter chicken had a wonderful, authentic Indian taste that we really loved. Overall, we had an enjoyable dining experience. The service was okay, but the quality of the food truly made it worth the money spent. I highly recommend trying out Bucy's if you’re looking for a great place to eat!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant in Galle. The atmosphere is beautiful, with a charming rustic design, and the food was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the Halloumi Salad and the Pineapple Fritters—both were incredibly fresh and full of flavor. A special thank you to Thushara, who was so kind and welcoming. He not only provided excellent service but also shared interesting insights into Sri Lankan history and culture, which made our visit even more memorable. We ordered the tempura prawns and tuna tartare as starters, and I must say, the tempura prawns were beautiful and delightful. The tuna was incredibly fresh, bursting with flavors that were outstanding. For our mains, we had the chicken burger and fish curry. The chicken was remarkably soft and crispy, while the fish curry was a wonderful blend of flavors that we had never experienced before. I do want to mention that your service staff appeared quite busy during our visit. Zakir served our table and while he was attentive, I believe more attention to guests could enhance the overall experience. As customers, we appreciate a bit of attentiveness without needing to demand it. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to our next visit!

We ate here two nights running, fantastic food and atmosphere. Both nights we arrived about 6:30 pm and it was very busy ,but you sit and wait in the comfortable seating area and have a drink. Probably waited half an hour each time. Our waiters over the two nights were Shairu and Thushara, both super friendly and efficient and even though it is a very busy and popular place you don't feel rushed at all. I would recommend a visit here and don't be put off by the queue as the wait probably won't be as long as they say. Another really nice thing is that the tables have space around them so you don't feel that you're eating with strangers and listening to their conversations or vice versa.

Wir hatten einen wirklich großartigen Abend im The Galle Bungalow Fort Restaurant. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir unseren Kellner Thusara, der unseren Besuch zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht hat. Sein Service war aufmerksam, herzlich und sehr professionell. Wir waren mit unserem 3-jährigen Kind dort, und Thusara hat sich unglaublich bemüht, damit alles für uns als Familie perfekt passt. Er hat unsere Wünsche sofort verstanden und dafür gesorgt, dass unser Kind zuerst sein Essen bekommt, bevor unsere Vorspeise serviert wurde. Danach wurde der Hauptgang genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt gebracht. Diese Flexibilität und Aufmerksamkeit haben wir sehr geschätzt. Auch das Essen war hervorragend – alles war frisch, sehr geschmackvoll und liebevoll zubereitet. Man merkt sofort, dass hier viel Wert auf Qualität und Gastfreundschaft gelegt wird. Dank Thusaras großartigem Service und dem köstlichen Essen hatten wir einen rundum gelungenen Abend im wunderschönen Galle Fort. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können dieses Restaurant absolut empfehlen!

Wir waren zu viert im Restaurant und haben einen schönen Abend verbracht. Wir hatten 4 verschiedene Gerichte und waren alle total begeistert. Das Butter Chicken kann ich sehr empfehlen, aber auch den Burger oder das Gericht mit Halloumi. Alle waren super. Die Bedienung war auch sehr bemüht und aufmerksam. Mag ein wenig teuerer sein als andere Restaurants in der Gegend, aber das ist absolut gerechtfertigt! Preisleistungsverhältnis ist top. Wir können das Restaurant gerne weiterempfehlen:-)

Visited The Bungalow in Galle Fort and had a wonderful dining experience. I ordered the Sri Lankan fish curry along with a Lion beer, and both were excellent. The fish curry was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with authentic local spices, making it one of the best meals I had during my stay in Sri Lanka. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, blending colonial charm with a relaxed and vibrant vibe in the heart of Galle Fort. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience felt welcoming from start to finish. If you’re visiting Galle and want to enjoy great Sri Lankan food in a lovely setting, The Bungalow is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for the fish curry and a cold Lion beer after exploring the fort.

Had a really good experience at The Bungalow, Galle. The ambience is calm and beautiful and the service made it even better. Special thanks to Zakir for being so attentive and warm throughout our visit, he genuinely made us feel taken care of. The food was excellent. We tried the crispy calamari as a starter, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For mains, the tuna steak was fresh and cooked just right, and the tiger prawn garlic rice was rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious. Overall, great food, great service, and a lovely place to spend an evening. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Galle.

This review is for the Restaurant only. What a fabulous place. The vibe is chill with good music and atmosphere. Galle is not very big in size so it is easily walked to from anywhere. The staff are all warm, inviting and accommodating. The food is fresh, freshly prepared and delicious. I ate dinner here each night I enjoyed it that much. Here is a shoutout to those staff members whose names I was lucky to catch: Dilanka and Sahiru. The lovely hostess, whose name I do not remember, is exceptionally warm and inviting. I HIGHLY recommend booking a table here and enjoying a fabulous night, meal and relaxed dinner while basking in the warm hospitality of the Sri Lankan people.

Hi there! I went to this restaurant at my first eventing in Galle and it was just lovely. Me and my friend had the haloumi salad and pineapple fritters, very delicious. We were waited by Thushara who was very kind and also gave us some history about the building. Nice to know: the owner is from Sri Lanka!! Enjoy ✨

A special mention to Isuri and Ismail, whose hospitality and attention to detail were second to none. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and well looked after throughout the evening. To top it all off, the meal and drinks were incredibly well priced, offering fantastic value for such a high-quality dining experience. The restaurant food was great! We ordered the tuna steak and it was so delicious. Sahiru's service was more than expected—he was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed before we even had to ask. A special mention to Restaurant Captain Thushara, who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. His warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests really stood out and made our visit even more memorable. The service overall was impeccable quick, polite, and always with a smile. Stopped off for lunch and was very impressed by the quality of food and service and especially the time it took to prepare our meals. He: Bungalow beef burger perfectly cooked juicy beef patty with perfect accompaniments. She: butter paneer masala (V) beautifully presented and tasty and perfectly seasoned. Service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. Will definitely be back especially as they have some tasty and inventive vegetarian options. So good we came back a month later and still exceptional! He: Sticky wings to start then butter chicken, she: haloumi salad. Speedy service, everything piping hot and exceptional quality

El ambiente es simplemente encantador: acogedor, elegante y perfectamente integrado con el entorno histórico, creando una atmósfera relajante y muy especial. Es el lugar ideal para disfrutar de una velada tranquila y memorable. La calidad de la comida es sobresaliente. Cada plato destaca por la frescura de los ingredientes y el cuidado en cada detalle. La presentación es impecable, visualmente atractiva y elaborada con gran esmero. Y el sabor… absolutamente delicioso. Cada bocado está lleno de matices y equilibrio, demostrando una cocina de gran nivel. Queremos destacar también el trato excepcional de nuestro camarero, Sahiru. Su amabilidad, profesionalismo y atención constante hicieron que la experiencia fuera aún más especial. Nos hizo sentir bienvenidos y perfectamente atendidos en todo momento. A wonderful restaurant and the perfect place to begin our holiday in Galle. We had dinner here on our first night, and it set the tone for a fantastic trip. We had an amazing dinner here, the atmosphere is great, the music was Etta James etc. They have tables outside, but some under a roof. The dining area is beautiful, the staff is incredibly attentive our waiter Zakir was so friendly. The food was amazing and prices absolutely fair! Just expect some waiting time for tables during weekends and high season

The combination of flavors in the tuna was remarkable, and the calamari was the crunchiest and most flavorful we’ve ever had. Truly impressive! For the main course, I ordered the fish curry, and I must say, it was incredibly flavorful—one of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken dish was also soft and crispy, just excellent. We even ordered a chicken burger on the side, which did not disappoint either. Though we were quite full, we simply had to try the churros, which were delightful! While we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, I did want to note that the service felt a bit rushed at times. We noticed that attention could be improved to make guests feel more valued. After all, as loyal customers, we appreciate that personal touch! Thank you once again for a memorable dinner—we truly enjoyed it and will be back soon!

Himal was our attentive waiter at the most delicious and fine dining at The Bungalow. I got the veggie curry which was so flavorful and my son got the butter chicken. The decor is beautiful and the food was divine. I highly recommend!
