Shandur Lake

Rode from Gilgit to Shandur on motorbike and reached on a fine evening. The journey itself is part of the experience – high-altitude roads, wide valleys with vast pastures, grass wetlands and that feeling of crossing into the “Roof of the World.” The lake set at about 3,700m on the Shandur Pass between Chitral and Gilgit. It's calm, clear, and surrounded by flat green plains with mountains all around. In the evening light, the water and sky turn unreal shades of blue. Quiet, cold, and wide open – you feel tiny here.

Its a beautiful place. Situated just besides the Shandur Polo Ground on a height of 12,502 feet. If you are going from Gilgit side, you can reach here on your car, however if you are coming from Chitral side, only 4*4 jeep is recommended.

Shandur lake is a beautiful part of shandur pass. there are two lakes one is bigger one which is renowned as ahandur lake and other one is like spill way of it. if you want a compmete view of lake then you have to go on top at surroundings.

At the altitude of 4000 metre its a must visit lake in summer as well as in winter.
