Sofia Colombo City Hotel

I went to Sofia Colombo City Hotel for a two-day workshop yesterday and today. The whole experience was outstanding, especially because of the exceptional service of the staff. Right when I arrived and the staff learned I am blind, Ms. Jayalatha Mendis from reception came over and offered her elbow in a very professional way to guide me. I was honestly surprised to see such well-trained help right from the beginning. She checked on me again in the evening yesterday and today as well, always asking kindly if I needed any assistance. Her genuine care and consistent help made moving around the hotel easy and comfortable. This kind of thoughtful service really adds huge value to the hotel. Today, supporting people with disabilities is not just kindness, it’s good business that brings in more guests and creates positive experiences. I strongly recommend Sofia Colombo City Hotel to everyone, especially local and international visitors who are visually impaired or have other disabilities. You will feel welcome and properly looked after here. Thank you to the team. I will definitely come back.

I recently visited Sofia City Hotel Colombo for their dinner buffet, which I booked with a great discount through the Aahass App, and the experience was truly worth it. The buffet spread was impressive, offering a wide variety of local and international dishes. The flavors were well balanced, the food was fresh, and the presentation was neat and appealing. While there is still a little room for improvement in variety and a few signature dishes, the overall quality was very good. I would rate the food 4 out of 5. What truly stood out was the service. The staff were exceptionally courteous, attentive, and quick to assist, which made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. From welcoming us to clearing plates and checking on guests, their professionalism was top-class. The service easily deserves 5 out of 5. The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant, clean, and relaxing — perfect for a comfortable dinner with family or friends. Considering the value I received through the Aahass App discount, this was an excellent deal. Overall, I highly recommend Sofia City Hotel’s dinner buffet for anyone looking for good food, outstanding service, and great value in Colombo.

Had an amazing stay at Sofia City Hotel. The hotel truly gives a premium luxury experience with stunning sea views and a beautiful infinity pool that made the stay even more special. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and very well maintained. Everything about the stay felt relaxing and elegant. The hospitality and overall atmosphere were fabulous. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious stay in Colombo!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sofia Colombo City Hotel because Kaveesha and Dinithi helped us when we required help, and went out of their way to ensure that we felt comfortable and understood. I also like that the rooms were well-kept, the air conditioning setup was easy to use. The on-site airport to hotel service was great because the driver happily waited, even with a 1.5 hours flight delay. Overall a good stay.

I would like to sincerely appreciate the outstanding service provided by Janani your staff members during our stay. She was extremely professional, attentive, and consistently ensured that everything was well taken care of during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What impressed me the most is that this was not just a one-time experience. Even during our visit last year, she maintained the same high standards of service, dedication, and professionalism. Her consistency truly reflects her commitment to excellence and the values of your hotel. Her positive attitude, attention to detail, and warm hospitality made our experience even more enjoyable and memorable. Staff members like her are a great asset to your organization. I strongly recommend that she be recognized and considered for a higher position or greater responsibilities, as she truly deserves it. Thank you once again for the wonderful hospitality.

Stay away from this Hotel!! After spending 4 nights at this Hotel. I went to the front desk to check out. The staff accused me of stealing hand towels. Yes, hand towels. No proof whatsoever, but they think it's appropriate to accuse a Hotel guest and in front of staff and Hotel guests?? Outrageous!! I said I never received hand towels for the last two days. Ask the staff before you accuse a paying guest. I even left a great review for the housekeeping staff and a nice tip. He said no worries. I called a Uber. My bags were placed in side then the bellhop said I was needed at the front desk. At this point, I am furious and rightfully so. The housekeeping manager accused me of stealing. I again explained and said, Check my bags. I will dump them here on the floor in front of other Hotel guests to teach you and your staff to never accuse a guest of stealing unless you have proof. How dare you accuse me of stealing. The front desk and housekeeping manager should be fired. You are lucky I don't take you to court. Never stay in this Hotel.

We visited Sofia Colombo for a high tea to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and we absolutely loved the experience! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The interior was so elegant and beautiful, and our photos turned out amazing. They’ve recently introduced a new high tea platter menu, and every single item on the platter tasted amazing. It had the perfect balance of savoury and sweet options, and it was definitely worth the price. Our absolute favourites were the fruit tart, lemon curd velvet cake, and the mini seafood burger. they were sooo good! But honestly, all the other items were super tasty as well and beautifully presented. They also offer small celebration cakes for birthdays at a very affordable price, and the cake we got was really yummy too. Overall, we had such a lovely time there and truly enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend Sofia Colombo for high tea celebrations!

Had a wonderful stay with stunning views and a very pleasant atmosphere throughout the property. Its location is excellent and conveniently accessible to Colombo city. A special mention to Ms. Kaveesha from the Front Office, who was exceptionally professional, warm, and attentive. She made the check-in experience seamless and ensured that every interaction was handled with genuine care.

Stayed here in January 2026. Great views from the rooftop which included a 25 metre pool perfect for a decent swim. The service was great especially from our room attendant Sanjayar and the pool attendant. The staff were very helpful. The buffet breakfasts and dinners were plentiful and varied and not expensive. Would stay here again.

Went to Sofia Colombo recently for their high tea platter. The hotel was clean, staff were quite hospitable and friendly. The value for money with regards to the food was something I appreciated. They have a great photo-op with a painted arch that reflects Sri Lankan design, giving the vibe of a similar arch at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. The roof top was being renovated, but offered breath-taking views of Colombo. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

I visited this hotel for a day-out package. Before arriving, I was informed that the package price was LKR 27,000, but after arriving the charges were increased unexpectedly. At check-in, the staff informed us that lunch would be served to the room, but around the end of lunchtime they called and said room service for lunch was not available. The electric kettle in the room was not working. There were no bathroom slippers provided for two guests. We were also informed that evening tea and snacks would be sent to the room, but nothing was delivered. Even though the “Do Not Disturb” board was placed outside the room, staff still kept ringing the bell without respecting guest privacy. There was no proper welcome experience such as a hand towel or any kind of warm hospitality. There was also no bell boy or concierge available to assist us. The TV was not functioning and continuously showed a connection error. In addition, the hygiene and cleanliness of the room were below expectations. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and did not match the standards or promises given by the hotel.

I accidentally came across Sofia Hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. The staff were genuinely kind, supportive, and always attentive to needs. The hotel is not very far from Galle Face and is conveniently close to many shopping destinations. It appears to be very tourist friendly, and I noticed that many foreign guests prefer its setting. The rooms are new, comfortable, and well maintained, with some offering a lovely view of the city and the seaside. All essential amenities were available, making the stay pleasant and hassle free. The hotel also maintains good standards of safety and security. The food was tasty, and although a dinner buffet may not be available during periods of low occupancy, the staff provided a personalized course meal that was delicious. Overall, Sofia Hotel offers great value with heartfelt service, comfort, and convenience. Highly recommended.

I recently stayed at Sofia Hotel Colombo for two days, and my experience was very positive. The food was excellent, with a good variety and great taste in every meal. The staff were extremely friendly, professional, and always ready to assist, which made the stay even more comfortable. One of the highlights was the convenient parking facility, which made it easy and stress-free, especially in a busy area like Colombo. Overall, it was a pleasant and well-managed stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city

The hotel itself was pretty nice. Nice terrace on the top floor with a nice view over the sea. Room was big and nice but the bed had some kind of protection under the sheets that was very plasticy and made so much noise as soon as you make any movement. Our BIG issue was that we were woken up at 05:30 in the morning by the hotel playing music in the hallways. I get it, it's nice to have some lounge music in the hallways but during the day, NOT from 05:30 in the morning!! And one of the speakers was just outside our room so it was heared very clearly in our room. I called 3 times to the reception over the course of 35 minutes about it, first 2 times they said yes we'll turn it off but nothing happened. When i called the third time and was pissed off due to disrupted sleep since 05:30, they finally turned it off at 06:20. So by this time the sleep is completely ruined. This is totally unacceptable, especially at a hotel in this price range, to pay this money to get some decent rest and be woken up that early for absolutely no reason. The breakfast was just ok but pricy for what you get.

I had an enjoyable stay here. The hotel room and corridors always smelt fragrant, the 10th floor atrium was a lovely place to work from and the rooftop and pool area were tended to with care. However, I noticed most people didn't shower before entering the pool - perhaps this could be politely enforced with clearer signage. The room itself was comfortable and well equipped with powerful showers, instant hot water, firm bed, ironing equipment, beverage facilities, bottled water, reliable internet connection. Luggage arrived promptly. Slippers would be a nice addition. The breakfast buffet offers a decent selection but I found the flavours uninspiring. However the next morning, I really enjoyed the waffles. The receptionist who checked me in was quite curt and cold, however every other member of staff I encountered during my stay was warm, friendly and helpful. Extra thanks to Muzakkir, Sanjaya and Mahesh for their professionalism. Supermarket, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. From my experience, the hotel is run quite efficiently which makes for a pleasing customer experience, so I'm happy to recommend it 👍

We held our engagement ceremony in the "Blues" conference room, and the entire experience was flawless. Special thanks to Ms. Anne from banquets, the chef, and Operations Manager Mr. Nishad Karunarathne. They went above and beyond and accommodated every last-minute change with ease. The food was exceptional, the location and views were stunning, and the hotel was spotless. The rooms were also very comfortable and immaculately clean. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team.

Had a superb dining experience at Sofia Colombo on 24th May with our group of 8 pax. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and it was truly great value for money. A special thank you to Janaka and the rest of the team for their warm hospitality and attentive service throughout the evening. Highly recommended and we will definitely visit again!

nice hotel in a nice location, good service staff. especially Mr. Mujja friendly gave us a good service. we had our baby's small party for guests and children, good food, it has a pool and open terrace as well. the party went past the buffet time as well, but the staff was very understanding.
