Had an amazing dining experience at Chhappan Bhog, Udaipur! The food was absolutely delicious. A special thanks to Mr. Kamlesh, who served us with so much love and warmth. Highly recommended

Food quality is not upto the mark. We ordered paneer lababdar but is was spicy and taste was not good. Quality of gravy is not good. Quantity of dish was not proportionate to the prices paid. Tandoori roti was burnt and onion salad was made from very big onions. Overall a very dissatisfied and bad experience. Not recommended...

Good food overall with authentic flavors. Definitely try their dal baati churma — it’s a must-have! Even non-locals will truly appreciate the rich taste and traditional preparation. A great place to experience genuine Rajasthani cuisine

🍛 What It Is Chhappan Bhog (Udaipur) is a pure veg restaurant serving Rajasthani + North Indian dishes — including dal bati churma, kadhi, gatta, chapati/roti, rice and thali combos. ⸻ 🌟 Positive Feedback ✅ Thali is filling and has traditional Rajasthani items like dal, baati, churma, kadhi pakora, gatte, chutneys, papad and more — many visitors say it’s good for a hearty lunch. ✅ Staff can be friendly and sometimes flexible with spice level. ✅ Some customers enjoyed the taste and variety enough to recommend it for budget travellers. ⸻ ⚠️ Mixed & Negative Points ⚠ Quality and taste vary a lot by visit — some guests loved the food, others found it average or too spicy. ⚠ A few reviews point out slow service, long waiting times, and inconsistent preparation (like missing dal tadka or late delivery of roti). ⚠ Some diners felt certain items tasted just okay and didn’t match expectations. ⸻ 🍽️ What to Expect in the Thali Here’s what people usually get in a Rajasthani-style thali at places like this (and often at Chhappan Bhog too): • Dal bati churma (classic dish with lentils, baked bread balls and sweet churma) • Roti/chapati, rice • Curries (kadhi pakora, seasonal veggie sabzis, gatte) • Chutneys, salad, papad • Sometimes dessert or sweet item depending on day/menu ⸻ 📍 Quick Bottom Line 🔹 Good for a traditional veg thali with dal bati churma if you want local Rajasthani flavors. 🔹 Expect simple seating and casual vibes. 🔹 Service and taste can be hit-or-miss — reviews range from “very tasty and filling” to “average and slow service.”

We visited Chhapan Bhog Restaurant for lunch as it was recommended by locals, but unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The restaurant has two separate sections on different floors — one dedicated to thali meals and the other for various cuisines like Punjabi, South Indian, and more. The issue is that if even one person in a group wants to have a thali, the entire group must sit in the thali section on the first floor. In our group of six, since we chose the thali, we had no option but to sit there. We tried the normal thali priced at around ₹350 per person (Rajbhog thali costs ₹550). The taste was average — nothing special or memorable as expected for the price. Another major concern was the seating area. Some parts were damaged and not properly cleaned, which gave a very poor impression. Cleanliness is very important in a restaurant, and this was disappointing. Additionally, the staff behavior felt slightly rude and not very welcoming. Overall, the food quality, service, and maintenance were not worth the cost. It felt more like hype than real value for money.

We had ala carte lunch here. Ordered special Rajasthani cuisines. Firstly it was very crowded and due to worst management they couldn’t handle it. We had to wait for 1 hour even after we got table we got our food after half an hour. Taste wise food was ok , but we all family members had an acidity after eating. Moreover due to crowd and less dining space it was very noisy that we felt like having lunch at marriage function. They have only one common washroom which was worst and occupied all the time. Try at your own risk.

Had my second Rajasthani Thali during my trip. The Thali here was very tasty with big portion. In general, I haven't figured out why the Thali portion in Rajasthan is always so big. I believe one Thali can serve two people.

Nothing special in Thali even price 350 per person...there is just waste of money...food quality lower...paneer sabji like they boiled and served in colour of water instead of gravy....come to Gujarat and see how 100 to 150 Rupees thali look like and full with all kind of meal... Just name of 56 Bog...but if you count of food item just not more than 15 with even salad... I not recommended this place to any people's from Gujarat...waste of your money...

Chhappan Bhog (56 Bhog) Restaurant in Udaipur is a popular pure vegetarian spot near Saheliyon ki Bari, known for unlimited Rajasthani thalis and multicuisine options like daal baati, paneer dishes, and Punjabi fare. We have taken 590₹ Rajasthani thali where you can sit and have lunch peacefully.

Try their dal bati churma thali - you won’t be disappointed. The service is pretty quick considering how busy it gets here. The only complaint I have is that they have an all gender washroom which could lead to long queues and discomfort for the females.

I was very impressed by the excellent service and the generally good flavors of the menu. However, I believe the overall food quality could be further refined to ensure the dishes feel as polished as the hospitality provided.

The food was mid. When we ordered dal makhani the second time, they added water instead of butter. We had to add salt to make it taste good. The service is slow. Only go there if you have the patience. They'll also try to add more on your bill. They served us one extra naan and a salad. We thought the salad was complimentary but they charged us for it. Other than that, the atmosphere was good
