Jag Niwas Guest House and pure veg restaurant

We spent three days here and found our stay comfortable and budget-friendly. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. There's a vegetarian rooftop restaurant with good food & spectacular views. We even celebrated our wedding anniversary on the rooftop.

I stayed at Jag Niwas Guest House in Udaipur for three days last week and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quite affordable. The food served at the restaurant was also very tasty. The owner and the staff were very polite and helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Another great advantage is the location — the restaurant is very close to Gangaur Ghat, making it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings. Overall, I had a really nice stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Udaipur.

This vegan restaurant was was amazing. I had a udaipur veg and garlic naan. Truly authentic Indian vegan food. The owner many directed me to the rooftop restaurant which was hidden from the street view

Jag Nivas a wonderful place for staying in Udaipur. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities provided. The rooftop view is also amazing, the lightings and the Ghanghor Ghat looks very beautiful from the roof. The location of the hotel is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions. The staff was warm, polite, and very helpful, making us feel comfortable. They also suggested us the rental vehicles in a very affordable price and helped to bargain. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, budget friendly and hassle-free stay.

I am a solo traveller and have stayed in dozens of hotels across different cities, but the level of hospitality and attitude I experienced at Jag Niwas Guest House is something I will never forget. I booked this hotel to stay with my family in Udaipur, expecting a pleasant trip. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a horrible experience. The one star is only for the price. Unless you are absolutely hand to mouth, I would strongly recommend not staying here. The first and biggest issue was the receptionist. We arrived around 9:00 AM, fully aware that the check in time was 10:00 AM. He asked us to wait for an hour as the room was still occupied, which was completely fine. Around 9:55 AM, I politely asked whether the current guests had packed and were ready to vacate. Instead of responding calmly, the receptionist started arguing and yelling at me from outside, saying, “How many times should I tell you? They will leave at 10 AM. I can’t force them to leave.” This behavior was extremely rude and disrespectful. This is not how you speak to guests. I firmly told him that his tone was unacceptable, especially when I had paid around ₹8000 for a 6 night stay. It felt like straight up harassment. When we finally got the room at around 10:30 AM, there were no clean towels, no shampoo, and no soap. These are basic amenities that any hotel should provide. There is no telephone in the room to contact room service. During our entire 6 day stay, not once did anyone come to clean the room. The hotel is located in an area with very poor mobile network coverage. The WiFi was practically unusable, giving a maximum speed of around 50 kbps. This was honestly the first time I felt completely fooled by Google Maps ratings. Food service was equally bad. If you order food at 6 PM, expect it to arrive at 8 PM. I ordered two cups of tea and it took more than 2 hours and 3 phone calls to get them. I requested a hot water jug for drinking at 9 PM and it was delivered at 10:30 PM, when I was already asleep. Food prices are overpriced and the taste is below average. The hotel’s overconfidence seems to come only from its location near Gangaur Ghat. Yes, the location is good, and the rooms are decent for the price, but only if you are staying for one or two days. I would strongly advise not to stay here with family. What should have been a relaxing trip turned into a stressful and disappointing experience.

It’s just 2 mins walking from Gangour Ghat and Jagdish Temple. The food is pure veg and the quality is also very good. We stayed there for 3 days, they had given us a very good experience including helping us find the best and cheapest transportation options.

The location of the Jag Niwas Guest house is central located. The staff was warm and welcoming. The quality of food served was delicious. I highly recommend to everyone looking for great food and services.

Great stay in udaipur. The staff are great and very helpful here. Especially manu in the restaurant on the roof. Great food. They gave us an amazing price to stay here and over Holi you won’t find a price better!

The best restaurant in Udaipur. A very kind and professional owner and a beautiful rooftop terrace with the best view. If you like good Indian food definitely come here!!

We stayed here for 2 nights, experience was very good. Room on top floor perfect spacious,clean and budget friendly.care taker Mr.Vinubhai always helpful and Guide about visit to place perfectly...thanks to Mr. Vinubhai Nearby all place and easy to available Transportation.

Had dinner on the upper level of this rooftop restaurant. Great food, all vegetarian menu. Manu was very kind and shared more on what to visit in Udaipur.

As shared by the owner, room prices during the year-end peak season are around ₹1500–₹2000 per night, while in the off-season they can be less than ₹1000. For this price range, the cleanliness, amenities, and walkable location make it a great choice for budget travelers visiting Udaipur.

The only pure veg root top restaurant near gangaur ghat. The food was delicious and staff were very accommodating and friendly l. Would visit again for sure.

I highly recommend this restaurant; I had a wonderful time there. I had a great chat with the chef, who was very friendly. The menu was very varied and 100% vegetarian. I ate very well.
