میدان پوپولو

Piazza del Popolo is a large urban square in Rome. The name in modern Italian literally means "People's Square", but historically it derives from the poplars (populus in Latin, pioppo in Italian) after which the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, in the northeast corner of the piazza, takes its name. The piazza lies inside the northern gate in the Aurelian Walls, once the Porta Flaminia of ancient Rome, and now called the Porta del Popolo. This was the starting point of the Via Flaminia, the road to Ariminum (modern-day Rimini) and the most important route to the north. At the same time, before the age of railroads, it was the traveller's first view of Rome upon arrival. For centuries, the Piazza del Popolo was a place for public executions, the last of which took place in 1826. —————————— Piazza del Popolo è una delle più celebri piazze di Roma, ai piedi del Pincio. L'origine del nome della piazza è incerta: c'è un'etimologia che deriva "popolo" dal latino populus (pioppo), sulla base della tradizione che vuole ci fosse, nella zona, un boschetto di pioppi pertinente alla tomba di Nerone, che era lì presso. È notizia storica, comunque, che Papa Pasquale II fece costruire a ridosso delle mura una cappella, a spese del popolo romano (quella su cui poi sarebbe sorta la chiesa attuale di Santa Maria del Popolo): del popolo era la Madonna, del Popolo diventò la piazza. ———————————— پیاتزا دل پوپولو (Piazza del Popolo) یک میدان بزرگ شهری در شهر رم است. نام آن در زبان ایتالیایی مدرن به‌طور تحت‌اللفظی به معنی «میدان مردم» است، اما از نظر تاریخی، ریشهٔ آن به درختان صنوبر (در لاتین: populus، در ایتالیایی: pioppo) بازمی‌گردد که کلیسای «سانتا ماریا دل پوپولو» در گوشه شمال شرقی میدان، نام خود را از آن‌ها گرفته است. این میدان در داخل دروازه شمالی دیوارهای آئورلیان قرار دارد؛ این دروازه در دوران باستان به نام «پورتا فلامینیا» شناخته می‌شد و امروزه به آن «پورتا دل پوپولو» می‌گویند. این مکان آغاز جاده‌ی فلامینیا (Via Flaminia) بود که به شهر آریمینوم (ریمینی امروزی) می‌رسید و مهم‌ترین مسیر ارتباطی به سمت شمال ایتالیا به شمار می‌رفت. همچنین، پیش از دوره‌ی راه‌آهن، این میدان نخستین منظره‌ای بود که مسافران هنگام ورود به رم با آن روبرو می‌شدند. برای قرن‌ها، میدان پیاتزا دل پوپولو محل برگزاری اعدام‌های عمومی بود و آخرین اعدام در این مکان در سال ۱۸۲۶ انجام شد

Muy lindo el lugar, puedes analizar la arquitectura tanto de los templos como del obelisco que se encuentra en la zona centro de la plaza, las fuentes son muy bellas y estan bien cuidadas. Solamente te sugiero tener cuidado con los vendedores ambulantes, están siguiendote por todas partes y te presionan para que les compres rosas jaja Estaria genial si se agregaran algunas flores coloridas en esta zona

Piazza del Popolo is one of those grand open squares that instantly catches your eye when you arrive. The space feels huge, elegant, and very organized, with beautiful fountains, an obelisk in the center and the famous twin churches around it. It is known as one of the monumental entrances to historic Rome, so the place naturally feels important and lively. We stopped there for a while to take in the view and enjoy the atmosphere before continuing our walk. It is a lovely area for photos and a nice meeting point between several famous streets. Busy, yes, but still very pleasant and worth a short stop during your day in Rome.

Beautiful space with the iconic twin churches on one side a triumphal arch and wonderful fountains. Sit and people watch from the many benches or wander over to the cafes, but spend a while and soak up the atmosphere. You need to visit a few times as the light changes through the day highlighting different aspects of the space. Wonderful architecture.

La Piazza del Popolo è una delle piazze più scenografiche e riconoscibili di Roma, punto di ingresso storico alla città per chi arrivava dal nord. La sua conformazione ellittica, le chiese gemelle e l’obelisco centrale creano un equilibrio architettonico molto forte, che colpisce soprattutto quando la si osserva dall’alto di Pincio. È un luogo sempre molto frequentato, quindi l’esperienza può risultare caotica nelle ore di punta, ma resta comunque uno spazio urbano di grande valore storico e simbolico, inserito nel contesto del centro storico di Roma, riconosciuto come Patrimonio UNESCO

Hermosa! Un lugar muy concurrido. Un gran espacio para disfrutar y tomar bellas fotos. La arquitectura del entorno es impresionante, como casi todo en Roma.

Una de las más grandes y famosas plazas de Roma. Zona de conexión entre la ciudad y las zonas ajardinadas de la Villa Borghese. En su interior, destaca el Obelisco Flaminio, un auténtico obelisco egipcio; la Basílica de Santa María del Popolo; y las curiosas iglesias gemelas (Santa MAría dei MIracoli y Santa María in Montesanto), en el otro extremo. Un magnífico espacio público, salvo por los locales de restauración, que son excesivamente caros

Una plaza muy linda con mucha historia. Nosotros igualmente buscamos la historia antes de ir a la misma. Dato de color. Fuimos a probar lo que se hizo viral de escuchar a través de las paredes.

Piazza del Popolo è una delle piazze più armoniose e scenografiche di Roma. Ampia, ordinata e sorprendentemente ariosa, regala subito una sensazione di apertura e respiro. L’obelisco centrale, le due chiese gemelle e l’accesso a Villa Borghese la rendono un punto perfetto per iniziare o concludere una passeggiata. Bellissima di giorno, ma ancora più suggestiva al tramonto, quando la luce cambia e la piazza si riempie di un’atmosfera speciale. Da non perdere.

No, no e no. Una chiesa con la croce gialla davanti, l'altra con i ponteggi. Magia e feeling a zero. Sottolineo i trupponi di agenti "Roma Capitale" presenti a chiacchierare tra di loro e nullafacenti. Un locale nella piazza ha lo spritz a 16 Euro... Verranno tempi migliori... Forse...
