Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station is one of the most important and busiest railway hubs in South India. The iconic red-brick building with its clock tower gives it a grand and historic look, making it a landmark in Chennai. The station is well-equipped with multiple platforms, clear signage, and regular announcements, which makes navigation easier even during rush hours. Connectivity is excellent, with direct access to the metro, buses, autos, and taxis. Facilities like waiting halls, food stalls, and restrooms are available, though cleanliness and crowd management can sometimes be a challenge during peak times. Still, train operations are generally well-managed. Overall, it’s a reliable and well-connected station that combines heritage with modern travel convenience.

Much cleaner than before. The entry and exit points seem much less hassle free than before, especially near platforms 10,11. The drop off point was surprisingly traffic free and easy to get down. That's a big change from past experiences. The walk on platform 6 was smooth. The platform was well lit with water vendors available right till coach number 4 from the engine of the train. BOV vehicles, supposed to charge Rs. 20/- per head, charge as they wish.

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr.MGR Station or Chennai Central has been gradually updating over the past few years with lots of new facilities & modern features making it comfortable and convenient for Travellers. The display boards at almost every point are good to note train timings and their are enquiry points with helpful staff. Ensure you take platform ticket while entering if not an train ticket. A whole variety of food outlets are available, everything from fast Food, to biriyani to pure vegetarian outlets are there, including small vendors. There are some commercial outlets & a book store too. Among the more modern amenities, the smart luggage lockers are a necessary addition, so are th executive lounge offerings from sofa seating to sleeping pods & recliners for a luxury layover. Regular AC Waiting hall is also available. Also love some of the new art work in the station and I wish there was more of that. Buses are also regularly available from the small bus station dedicated to Chennai Central

Unlike from other railway stations, there is no foot over bridge. Metro station is located nearby.

Crowd management is also better compared to many other stations. However, waiting areas could be improved a bit and cleaner washrooms would make the experience even better. Particularly, the Chennai Metro is of great significance as it connects the Chennai Central Railway station directly to the airport in under an hour at very minimum prices, the tickets of which can be booked online through the Chennai Metro Rail app. So this is a great transport hub for the city.

Super crowded. They should think of expansion. Also should have a better pick up and drop area for passengers. And please get rid of the rickshaw drivers. They bother you so much that you cant enter or exit the building without being trapped by them
