Doodza Cave carries a deep personal history for me. In 2006, many years ago, my uncle, Mohsen Cheshmeh Ghasabani, one of Hamedan’s pioneer cavers, went missing here. That tragedy led to months of search expeditions, during which new passages, lakes, and chambers were discovered. His body was finally recovered seven months later, and in 2007 the cave was scientifically mapped in collaboration with British caver Simon Brooks. Once a pristine and mysterious place, the cave has since suffered damage from careless visitors, broken stalagmites, litter, and vandalism. Beyond its natural beauty, Doozdah Cave stands as both a remarkable site of discovery and a reminder of the importance of respect and preservation.
