This flight training school operates with a blatant disregard for the community and aviation regulations. Their training planes frequently fly at altitudes lower than what is required by law, raising serious safety and noise concerns. To make matters worse, they allow flights to operate late at night almost every day, disrupting the peace and quiet of the surrounding community. Despite attempts to address these issues directly with the university, they ignore all concerns, showing no care for the impact they have on residents.

I live in Saltwater near the RMIT Aviation Academy, and the aircraft noise has become unbearable. The training flights often start very early in the morning, continue late into the night, and even occur on weekends - every day of the year. The constant low-frequency engine noise greatly affects residents’ sleep and quality of life. We understand the need for pilot training, but the lack of noise management or restrictions on flight times is unacceptable for a residential area. We hope RMIT can take responsibility and implement better noise control measures, such as limiting early mornings, late nights flights, and especially giving us quiet weekends. Everyone deserves a break, even from noise.

Was a student here but left. Many staff members were unprofessional and not polite in their dealings with students. You were expected to be available 24/7, (no weekends!) and free time…you don’t deserve it cuz ur a student. Pilot training was offered (and still is) as a degree course, so if you fail theory you fail flying too even if you had passed your flying and then you pay for both again. Vice Versa Applies. They say it’ll take you 2 years to do the whole thing but it’s nowhere near that time. I ended up going to QLD to complete my remaining training and most flight schools around Australia get your CPL done in just about a year, + another 3 months or so for your IFR/IR whatever you choose. Still 2+ years is way too much and a total waste of time and money. Mind you, the reality is that having a degree doesn’t get you as far in the aviation industry as you may expect, bcuz experience is the key to any job, unless you want to be a ground ops manager or something and a part-time pilot, I’d highly suggest to not do a degree, especially at RMIT or any university program. Nowadays its just not the necessary way, or worth the time and money. Just look for a Diploma of CPL instead. 7/10 people that I fly with in my current role, don't have an aviation degree.

The Biggest reward of my life. Recently I finished my Associate Degree and was offered employment as an instructor the following week. This University course is like any other, you get out what you put in! Hard work and effort is rewarded, not just with good grades but scholarships, fly-away trips and employment opportunities. It is expensive, just like every other flight school but when investing so much money into yourself you need to support it with hard work to make the returns of the invest worthy. Other great things is the location at the RAAF base Point Cook, the friends I've made here, the solid banter and the staff are very helpful especially when I had family concerns in another state. Training and working under some of the best CFIs in the country is a honour and having their names on references for my next endeavour is a real privilege.

Completed my CPL and MECIR over the allocated 2 years. Had a fantastic experience with quality instructors, both whom have now moved on to airlines. I appreciate the high standard expected, especially with regards to Standard Operating Procedures, which I believe has prepared me well for the wider industry, especially charter and airline work. It certainly wasn't easy, with lots of ups and downs, but ultimately hard work pays off in a very rewarding way, and the course will require full-time commitment to succeed. I'm now completing my Instructor Rating and looking forward to a strong future in aviation.

Great place to start flight training, location is brilliant with multiple classes of airspace around point cook. All staff are friendly and instructors have a great deal of knowledge. The senior instructors and testing officers are extremely experienced. Really great place for flight training with fantastic links to airlines
