Our visit to the Critical Infrastructure Test Center for Water and Electricity at Sakarya University in Sapanca, Turkey, was an enriching experience that exceeded all expectations. Organized for us, the classmates from the CyberMACS program at Kadir Has University, this trip offered us a deep dive into the critical infrastructure that supports our everyday lives.
Despite the rainy weather, which could have dampened spirits, the experience was nothing short of enlightening. The center’s staff and the university’s faculty members were incredibly welcoming and demonstrated a depth of knowledge that was both impressive and highly educational. Their expertise in the fields of water and electricity infrastructure was evident, and they shared insights that were not only informative but also critical for our understanding of cybersecurity in these essential sectors.
The tour through the facility was well-organized, allowing us to see firsthand the advanced technologies and systems in place to monitor, test, and secure water and electricity supplies. It was a practical extension of our classroom learning, providing us with a real-world context to the theories and concepts we’ve been studying.
This visit was a highlight of our academic program, offering a unique perspective on the importance of protecting critical infrastructure from cyber threats. It was a very knowledgeable trip that emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of cybersecurity, bridging technology, policy, and practical application seamlessly.
I highly recommend this experience to any student or professional interested in the nexus of technology, infrastructure, and security. The combination of expert guidance, hands-on learning, and the picturesque setting of Sapanca, even under the rain, made this trip unforgettable. A big thank you to Sakarya University and everyone involved in making this visit possible!
