Sam lagoon safari

After a quick search on Google Maps for an evening activity near our guesthouse, we stumbled upon Sam’s Lagoon Safari. We spontaneously called him just two hours in advance, and Sam was incredibly friendly and excited to show us the lagoon. They picked us up at our guesthouse, and even the drive there already felt like an authentic adventure. We also wanted to experience Sri Lanka away from the usual tourist spots, and this was absolutely the perfect choice. Two locals (including Sam) proudly guided us around the lagoon. Sam speaks excellent English and has extensive knowledge of the lagoon and its wildlife. What an amazing experience! We highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves seeing a variety of animals, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the lagoon, and watching the most beautiful sunset while having tea and snacks. We booked the afternoon tour just a couple of hours in advance and were very glad we did. We started at 4pm by the lake - they offered to come pick us up anywhere in Mirissa but we had a scooter so we drove there - and the guide took us around with several stops to spot wildlife (birds, monkeys, lizards, bats) and enjoy tea and snacks. I loved the peaceful atmosphere of the lake and highly recommend this experience. Just before sunset, we witnessed bats waking up and flying off, it was something I had never seen before and truly incredible. 100% recommended.

Отличная прогулка на воде, видели много разных птиц, варана, летучих лисиц, красивый закат. Нас угостили вкуснейшими блинчиками с кокосовой начинкой, чай, вода, фрукты, печеньки и все это в умиротворяющей лагуне со звуками природы🥰 По цене выгоднее чем у других, а сервис супер! Забрали нас из отеля и привезли обратно.

Wonderful experience. You are taken by tuk-tuk from you hotel to the lagoon. We've managed to see a lot of animals, had a tea with some pancakes (really delicious one) watched the sunset and then the bats started waking up and flying which was the end of the tour. Then you are taken back to you hotel. Highly recommend. Reserve via WhatsApp

We had an amazing two-hour lagoon tour with Sam Lagoon Safari and absolutely loved every minute of it. We saw so many beautiful birds — bee-eaters, kingfishers, and several other wonderful species — as well as a monitor lizard. The highlight at dusk was definitely the flying foxes gliding right above us. The whole experience felt incredibly peaceful and respectful of the wildlife. The animals come very close, yet you never feel like their natural habitat is being disturbed. Our guide was very friendly, and the atmosphere on the boat was calm, relaxing, and truly enjoyable. The tea on board was delicious, as were the pancakes — such a thoughtful touch! The price–performance ratio was excellent and felt very fair for the quality of the experience. We were also picked up from our hotel by tuk-tuk, which arrived perfectly on time — another big plus. All in all, it was a wonderful, soothing, and unforgettable tour. I’ve just returned from our bout tour with my husband. And it was absolutely amazing. We saw a lot of big lizards, many beautiful birds. We saw a bird who swims to reach food. We saw brown and black monkeys. And during the road to and from the lagoon we saw mangoose, cinnamon tree, and more than 10 peacocks, these are so beautiful. Also we had a tasty breakfast with such a beautiful view. Thank you so much for the trip. Highly recommend this tour. And morning time isn’t worse than evening one. It’s very beautiful to see the sunrise and spend time in a calm lagoon.

Спасибо большое за утреннее сафари по озеру! Виды прекрасные, видели кучу варанов, птиц, обезъян. Вообще сафари началось уже с поездки на тук туке, уже тогда увидели павлинов и цапель. Завтрак чудесный, очень красивые чашки для чая. Рекомендую!

What a great place to see the local wildlife on the lake and have tea and pancakes actually on the kayak with the guides. Sam the tour guide’s knowledge of the animals was great, he spotted water snakes and reptiles out from a distance. The best thing was when the sun was setting and thousands of flying foxes (giant bats) came out of the trees and flew right above our heads. Outstanding adventure, well recommend this peaceful tour

Het was fantastisch! Ik werd opgehaald vanuit mijn hotel en gebracht naar de plek waar de kano lag. Wat een rust, met een kano, bemand door langs de randen van de lagoon. Ik heb ontzettend veel prachtige vogels gezien. 2 arenden, veel ijsvogels, veel soorten honingbijeters, vleermuizen, parkieten en nog anderen. Tijdens de pauze werd ik verwend met een verse banaan en een stukje cake en thee en heb ik genoten van een zonsondergang. Op de terugweg zagen we alle grote vleermuizen uitvliegen, wow!!! Zo gaaf om te zien. Sam en zijn vriend waren ontzettend vriendelijk en ik heb genoten. Ik kan dit iedereen aanraden. Ook de prijs is heel goed.

Super leuke tour, die super authentiek en sereen aanvoelt, terwijl het juist zo dichtbij het drukke Mirissa is. Bij de boottrip is een pick-up vanaf je hotel inbegrepen, en die rit langs de rijstvelden en het dorp alleen al is de moeite waard. De boottrip op een vlot gemaakt tussen twee kano’s voelde heel speciaal. Het meer was heel kalm en we deelden het met slechts een andere boot. We zagen varanen, apen en verschillende soorten vogels. En het belangrijkste - alles respectvol naar de dieren!

It was a great experience! We contacted the gide in advance by WhatsApp and he arranged the safari at the same day. He picked up at our hotel and drove to the lake. While safari he helped us to see as many birds and animals as possible. Also he shared some snacks with us during the trip. The vibe was very chill and peaceful. We contacted Sam Lagoon Safari on WhatsApp just a few hours before visiting. We were picked up from our hotel and taken straight to the lagoon. The lagoon was much bigger than we imagined and there was so much amazing wildlife to see. We were blown away by the experience! It was a real treat to Moore up on the lagoon and be given tea, fresh bananas, chocolate biscuits and beautiful fresh coconut pancakes. We stayed on the lagoon until the sun went down to watch flocks of bats come out from the forest behind the lagoon. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone staying in the local area. Such a perfect sunset experience for everyone to enjoy. We will be back next time we visit Sri Lanka, Thank you, Lauren and Mike

A wonderful evening. The lagoon is beautiful and peaceful and the trip is worth it just to enjoy the views and atmosphere. We also saw a lot of wildlife - monitor lizards, langur monkeys, eagles, a lot of cormorants, herons and kingfishers and finally giant bats. Sam and his fellow guide/boatman were great, helping us spot wildlife and providing helpful answers and explanations while also letting us soak up the peaceful atmosphere. The tea and snacks were lovely, and they provided binoculars which was a thoughtful touch.

What a wonderful experience. Our guide managed to fit us in last minute same day which we really appreciated. We were picked up and dropped off from hotel. Our guide told us about the lagoon and helped us spot a variety of wildlife including different birds, monkeys and monitor lizards. He also made us a tasty Sri Lankan Ceylon tea and gave us snacks too. The bat experience was particularly amazing so I’d suggest going at sunset. It was a peaceful, serene experience away from the hustle and bustle of the beach front and town. If you’re looking for something more authentic, quiet and respectful of the natural environment… Would highly recommend!

Списались по whatsapp і в обговорений час за нами приїхав тук-тук. Екскурсія дуже розслаблена, спокійна. Ви пливете на човні по озеру, споглядаєте за рослинами і птахами. Особливо захоплюють кажани, які прокидаються і зграями летять на нічне полювання. Також бачили велетенського варана. Під час 2-годинної подорожі нас пригостили чаєм та солодощами.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. We were picked up from our hotel and driven by tuk tuk to the lagoon which is away from the busy Mirrisa centre. On the lagoon we were expertly guided on the wildlife present. Managed to see many beautiful birds and a black monkey in the trees. Our guides were respectful towards the animals at all times, paddling gently so not to disturb. We also saw two water lizards and many bats after sunset. Towards the end of our journey we encountered a heavy rain shower, however we were cared for with umbrellas provided. At the end of the experience we were dropped back into town. Thank you so much for a 5 star evening.

We had a great experience.. Witnessing the nightly bat migration at sunset was definitely one of the highlights of our trip in Sri Lanka. Unforgettable and so impressive. Therefore I’d definitely recommend the afternoon option. Sam was knowledgeable about the various birds and wildlife we saw on the lake. The whole experience felt very relaxing. 10/10!
