Sandglass Camp

Everything was great. Said, the owner, and his brother are very kind and helpful. We left our car at the main road, 15 min away from the desert and Sqid s brother picked up with a 4x4 car. At the camp you have all conditions, shower, toilets, there is a big tent like a reception where you can try tea, coffee, sweets, wather. In the same place was the dinner and the breakfast (vary menu, barbeque, fish, chicken, veggie, rice, eggs, etc) We stayed one night and was amazing. The tents are clean, comfy and the view is super.

Said hat uns am Pick-up Point kostenlos abgeholt und hat uns ins Camp gebracht. Das Camp an sich besteht aus ca. 6 Zelten und mehreren schönen gemeinschaftlichen Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten. Die Größe des Camps ist perfekt und macht den Aufenthalt familiär. Es gibt Frühstück und Abendessen gegen einen fairen Aufpreis. Das Camp liegt in einer ruhigen Senke der Wüste und in Sichtweite befindet sich kein anderes Camp, sondern nur Dünen und Kamele. Gegen einen Aufpreis kann man auch eine Dunebashing-Tour durchführen mit Sonnenuntergang und Sandboarding. Sehr empfehlenswert, weil bei der Tour ein ganzes Stück in die Wüste reingefahren wird. Zusammengefasst waren wir mit der Unterkunft sehr zufrieden und Said ist sehr gastfreundlich. Es gab tagsüber immer Tee, Wasser und kleine Snacks.

Great experience sleeping under the stars. The sunset/sunrise were beautiful. Lovely home cooked meals and wonderful Beduin hospitality. A really peaceful stay - a lovely reset after a busy few days in Muscat. Said has some great stories and makes you feel at home. Beds are super comfy. Free transfer from Al Wasil which was great for us as we were in a 2WD.

Ho trascorso un intero giorno e una notte al Camp con la mia compagna. Said è un host fantastico. Contattato il giorno prima dell'arrivo ci ha organizzato un early check prendendo anche accordi per farci fare una breve cavalcata a dorso di cammello. Una volta.al.camp.ci siamo.trovati il pranzo imbandito e abbiamo potuto passeggiare sulle dune e riposarci. Il Camp è in una bella posizione in alto e si è subito all'interno del deserto. Al pomeriggio, verso le 16, dune bashing con 4x4. Molto divertente e Said ci ha portati in uno splendido posto per ammirare il tramonto. Al.rientro un te attorno al fuoco e una cena a base di piatti omaniti. L'atmosfera al camp è super amichevole e.ancora sinceramente autentica per quanto si stia comunque parlando di una struttura ricettiva per turisti. Se si è alla ricerca di un'esperienza genuina ed entusiasmante alle whaiba sands non penso ci sia posto migliore del Sandglass

The stay at Sandglass has been an absolutely perfect stay! The owner, Said, is a really amazing and friendly person who goes the extra mile to make sure that you’re comfortable and fully enjoying the stay. Unlike other camps, this camp offers a free pickup from the nearby town of Al Wasil, something other camps charge around 10-25 OMR. The camp also offers a more authentic experience, but it doesn’t mean that the camp is barebones and not comfortable. The toilet and shower facilities are kept very clean. The beds in the camp are also very comfortable. The camp also offers free dates, coffee, and tea, and also serves very delicious local food for additional but affordable cost. Behind the camp is a dune you can hike up for a short while to see the most magnificent sunrise and sunsets. After dinner, Said will sit down and talk to everyone and sharing his travel and life experiences, and we will also be sitting under the stars while he points out the individual constellations and planets. I also managed to get a picture of the Milky Way! I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you Said for the wonderful stay and hospitality shown

Le séjour en compagnie de Saïd a été tout simplement merveilleux. C’était une expérience très humaine et totalement dépaysante. Saïd est venu nous chercher au parking à quelques kilomètres du camp en 4x4 gratuitement. Il nous a ensuite invité à goûter avec lui avant de partir ensemble faire une magnifique excursion dans les dunes en 4x4. Notre journée s’est ensuite terminé avec une observation des étoiles en sa compagnie. L’expérience était inoubliable, sans parler des prix très honnêtes, que ce soit pour le logement comme pour les activités. Nous reviendrons certainement un jour. Le repas du soir a été succulent varié et local. Nous ne pouvons que recommander, l’hôte est une personne formidable !

Un séjour MAGIQUE dans le meilleur camp d’Oman !!! Tout a été exceptionnel, en commençant par Saïd qui a été un hôte incroyable, qui a pris le temps de nous montrer les étoiles et de parler avec nous. Nous nous sommes senties très à l’aise. Le camp est super, la tente très chaleureuse. Nous avons eu un dîner très bon, très complet (le chameau à goûter absolument haha c’est excellent). Nous avons fait une excursion avec le frère de Said, qui était très gentil et a pris le temps pour nous faire des photos, s’arrêter et nous attendre. Je recommande de la faire pour le sunset. Merci encore pour votre hospitalité, nous reviendrons certainement !!! 😍😍😍

Une expérience inoubliable, des activités super funs, un coucher de soleil parfait, un groupe génial, et Saïd, son cousin, des hommes extra. Il nous a conté des histoires vécues au coin du feu, on a échangé de long moment sous la tente, en prenant le thé, ou au moment des repas, sur la vie, les coutumes. Un vrai moment ancré dans le réel avec des bédouins qui sont dans un hospitalité dans borne. Milles mercis pour ces moments partagés. On se souviendra longtemps de nos fous rires. Tolle Gastfreunschaft mit feinem und reichlichen Abendessen, Lagerfeuer und interessanten Gesprächen mit Gastgeber und weiteren Gästen. Sonnenunter/aufgang haben wir ungestört in den wunderschönen Sanddünen genossen. Fairer Preis, gerne wieder.

If you want a real Bedouin experience rather than a luxury resort, stay here. Authentic hospitality with camels, sandboarding, and stargazing. Great bonfire and social vibe in the evening. The tents and bedding were very clean. The food was delicious with plenty of variety. Facilities are basic - as expected in the desert. The camp is 5 minutes drive from the village. We followed the host in our own 2WD rental car and it was no problem, but they also offer a free transfer.

Séjour inoubliable, Saïd et son frère ont été des hôtes super accueillants ! Les activités proposées étaient bien organisées (dune bashing, sandboarding, visite d'un élevage de dromadaires, observation du coucher de soleil pour un total d'environ 2h à 35 OMR par véhicule soit 4 personnes). Le dîner était très bon et consistant, et l'ambiance chaleureuse a permis de faire quelques belles rencontres sur le camp autour d'un feu. Point bonus : le transfert jusqu'au camp était compris dans le prix.

We met Saïd spontaneously in Al Wasil, and what followed became one of the highlights of our trip to Oman. Saïd guided us through an unforgettable dune bashing experience, where we were able to drive our own car through the desert and take on the dunes ourselves—exciting, safe, and incredibly well guided. Afterwards, we decided to stay with Saïd for dinner, which turned into a spontaneous overnight stay. We shared a delicious meal with a small group of other guests; the food was excellent and the atmosphere warm and relaxed. Throughout the evening, Saïd was very approachable and generously shared stories about life, culture, and traditions in Oman, which added real depth to the experience. Saïd’s hospitality is genuine and heartfelt. If you’re looking for an authentic desert experience combined with great food and meaningful conversations, this is something you should not miss.

It was really nice experience for me and my family. The Host was very welcoming and fun loving persons. We really enjoyed our stay there. Specially so much thank you Ahmet bro. And I'll also suggest to do Dune bashing with them.

We couldn’t recommend Sandglass Camps and Said more! My fiancé and I spent 10 days wild camping around Oman in a 4x4 and fancied spending some time in the desert. We called ahead and Said could accommodate us camping in our roof tent but still having access to the facilities - something a lot of camps don’t allow. From the start Said was fantastic - we naively arrived in the desert without deflating our tires and he helped us navigate the sands and get to camp. When he found out we’d recently got engaged days before, he upgraded us to one of his Bedouin tents free of charge which was the sweetest thing! We would definitely recommend the sunset dunes activity if you’re after a bit of an adrenaline rush followed by some stunning views. Said absolutely made the experience, it’s a simple set up, but feels very genuine and raw, again unlike other camps that seem more like hotels in the desert. His family and friends contribute, providing an authentic Bedouin dinner of sharing stews and curries (tried camel for the first time!), and stayed up star gazing with us and telling stories. We were only there for a night but it was one of our favourite days in Oman

Everything was perfect about Said’s camp. If you’re looking for a raw authentic Omani desert experience, this has to be it. I’d also recommend renting a 4WD car to try dune bashing for beginners with Said’s help. By booking a stay with them, you’re helping a local Omani family business. Said is the best!! The best host to you could ask for! The camp location is really good and easy to find, although Said pick up his guests from a meeting point near the camp. He’s very generous and kind and easy going guy. Even when there is a big group of guests, he makes sure everyone is included in the conversation and makes the atmosphere fun, welcoming, and friendly. Strongly recommended staying at his camp.

Il campo è appena dentro al deserto, molto spartano (come dovrebbe essere). Il proprietario e il fratello sono due persone fantastiche che ci hanno subito messo a nostro agio e ci hanno fatto divertire nel pomeriggio con il giro in jeep nelle dune del deserto! Ottima la cena e lo spuntino del pomeriggio

Bellissima esperienza alle porte del deserto. Consiglio di fare l escursione in jeep sulle dune al tramonto!... L'unica cosa che mi è un po' mancato è stato il bagno ...ma ovviamente per una notte ci si adatta a tutto☺️

Said was truly the best host I could have wished for. I arrived in Bidiyah late and discovered that every hotel was fully booked because of the Omani holidays. Even though it was almost midnight, he arranged for someone to pick me up - everything went smoothly - and I ended up having the best stay. The camp itself is lovely, with a great location and beautiful surroundings. A short walk and you will find the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. Said was incredibly kind and helpful, doing everything he could to make me feel welcome and ensure I had a wonderful experience. I feel very lucky that coincidence brought me here, and I am truly grateful. This camp has my highest recommendation.
