The mosque was built in the state of Sinan Pasha, who was governor of Damascus from 988-998 AH. The mosque was built over an older mosque called the “Onion Mosque /Al Basal.” The construction used alternating white and black stones. The mosque includes a school and an octagonal ablution fountain. بني الجامع في ولاية سنان باشا الذي كان واليا لدمشق من 988-998هـ. تم بناء الجامع فوق جامع أقدم يدعى «جامع البصل» استخدم في البناء حجارة بيضاء وسوداء بالتناوب. يضم الجامع مدرسة ونافورة مثمنة للوضوء
