This station genuinely feels more like an airport than a railway terminal. The central air-conditioning, sleek waiting lounges, and high-end digital displays are a massive upgrade for Indian Rail. It is remarkably clean and organized, with functional escalators and elevators throughout. However, the bottleneck is the approach road; traffic in the surrounding area can be brutal, so plan for extra travel time. Parking is spacious, though the walk to the platforms can be long. Happy Journey ♥️

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru stands out as India’s first centrally air-conditioned railway terminal, intentionally designed to replicate a modern airport experience. It makes an excellent first impression with its sleek architecture, digital display boards, escalators, and clean, spacious waiting halls. However, while it earns high praise for its visual appeal and premium amenities, the terminal faces practical hurdles—notably, heavy traffic bottlenecks on its narrow approach roads, inconsistent upkeep of its platforms and tracks, and occasional maintenance issues with its escalators and restrooms. It is undeniably a brilliant, high-tech blueprint for the future of Indian travel, but it requires much tighter day-to-day management to fully match its grand design with reliable functionality.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), India’s first air-conditioned railway terminal, is designed with a modern, airport-like aesthetic that significantly elevates the travel experience. Cleanliness & Information: The station is generally praised for its exceptional cleanliness and high-quality infrastructure, featuring broad staircases, elevators, and escalators for easy platform access. Travelers find the information boards and digital displays clear and well-placed, simplifying navigation through the seven-platform facility. Train Services: SMVT serves as a critical hub for long-distance north-bound trains. Major services originating here include the Sanghamitra Express (Danapur), Humsafar Express (Patna/Howrah), and the Anga Express (Bhagalpur), alongside various special trains to Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Parking & Access: The station offers ample parking space for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. However, be aware of "access control" fees: vehicles overstaying a 10-minute drop-off window may face charges ranging from ₹50 to ₹200. Platform Tickets: A common pain point for morning travelers is the heavy rush at ticket counters. Obtaining a platform ticket can be difficult during peak hours due to long queues; it is often recommended to use the UTS mobile app to bypass the physical counter entirely. The "Auto Mafia" Challenge: A frequent complaint among travelers is the auto-rickshaw situation just outside the terminal. Many drivers reportedly refuse to use meters, demanding inflated flat rates, especially during late nights or early mornings. To avoid this "mafia" hassle, it is highly recommended to book via Uber or Ola and use the designated pickup points, or walk slightly away from the main exit to find more reasonable drivers.Morning Rush: Be prepared for heavy crowds at the counters; obtaining a platform ticket in the morning can be a struggle. Using the UTS App is the best way to save time.

This is one of the important railway stations in Bengaluru. It is an operating station. The other operating stations are KSR Bengaluru(station code SBC), Yesvantpur (station code YPR) and Bangalore cantonment (station codeBNC) The full form of SMVT is Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal. The station code is SMVB. It is located at Baiyyappanahalli. It is about 10 km from KSR Bengaluru, 6km from KR puram and 2km from Banaswadi railway stations. The commercial operations was started in june 2022. The structure of the station is similar to an airport and it is very beautiful. There are 7 platforms. Escalators and lifts are available. Two food courts are functioning at first floor. A BMTC bus terminal is operating from here. Battery operated vehicles are available. Cleaning is to be improved.

A clean, modern, and well-organized railway terminal — one of the best in Bengaluru I recently used SMVT Bengaluru Station, and I was genuinely impressed with how clean and modern the entire place felt. The infrastructure is excellent — spacious platforms, clear signboards, and well-maintained waiting areas. It definitely feels like one of the most upgraded railway terminals in the city. The station layout is easy to navigate, and announcements are clear, which really helps if you’re catching an early morning or late-night train. The washrooms and seating areas were also in good condition, which is a big plus. Outside the station, transport options like autos, cabs, and buses are easily available, so getting in or out is pretty smooth. There’s also enough space for pickup and drop-off without too much congestion. Overall, SMVT Bengaluru is a clean, efficient, and traveller-friendly station. A great experience whether you’re arriving or departing. 🚆✨

It's actually good. Builders and designer tried there best to give the airport vibe. Place is huge. Entrance look grand. Although if you are by car then it's fine.. it has slope.. but if u comeing by foot they u have to walk on the staircase while carrying all the bags Right in front many shops are there for dill pasand. Biggest issue is to fine cab and auto. In there 🤣 🤣 🤣 I had to wait.. 40 minutes just to travel 3 km

Best station as it has lifts, elevators to enter and has slant area to easily carry for luggage. Coolie cost is ₹90/luggage on head but you wouldn't need if you have not more than 3-4 luggage. Easily accessible autos, buses and uber rapido is available too. You can enter and leave station from stairs as well as a slope area so carrying luggage won't be a problem.

A world class railway station in Bengaluru looks like an airport. Well planned and well maintained. There is lift and escalator at almost every platform. Round the clock transportation available. It looks very beautiful from outside as well as from inside. Good restaurant, ATM is also available.

Overall the station looks very modern. Yes the escalators don’t work which is disappointing but it still looks well built. Couldn’t find any broken infra so I think the quality is good. It’s also neat. However, I found it a bit stupid that theres no train information display at the entrance.

Visited twice this month. Pick up point for auto and taxi is spacious at present. In future it may not be adiquant. The restroom near foodcourt , it must be given negative rating. So dirty with foul smell. I traveled in smvt to nagercoil express.when we reach the station ,the veg food options in foodcourt is zero. In one food court they provide dhosa . It is horrible. Even sambar wouldn't accept as that one as dhosa. Only egg, chicken biriyani are avalaible Southern railway must some action to provide some veg food in this station. They must keep the restroom neat and clean

SMVT) Bengaluru is a truly outstanding achievement by Indian Railways and a proud milestone for the city. As India’s first fully air-conditioned railway terminal, this station brings a whole new level of sophistication, comfort, and modernity to the Indian rail travel experience. It’s not just a railway station – it feels like walking into a world-class airport! From the moment you enter, the terminal impresses with its clean, sleek, and spacious design. The architecture is inspired by airport terminals — high ceilings, abundant natural lighting, and polished interiors give it a premium, futuristic vibe. The attention to detail in passenger convenience is remarkable. There are escalators, elevators, clear signage, digital boards, and well-marked platforms that make navigation seamless even during peak hours. The waiting lounges are comfortable and well-maintained, with ample seating, air-conditioning, and charging points. Food courts and vending machines are available with a good selection of snacks and beverages. The station also prioritizes hygiene and accessibility — spotless washrooms, designated areas for differently-abled passengers, and clean drinking water kiosks add to the overall comfort. What’s even more impressive is how well-organized everything is. Trains run efficiently, announcements are clear, and security is visibly present but non-intrusive. The entire environment feels safe, orderly, and welcoming. SMVT Bengaluru is not just a transportation hub — it’s a symbol of progress and innovation in public infrastructure. A huge congratulations to Indian Railways for delivering a facility that matches global standards. I hope more stations across the country take inspiration from this model.

This railway station in Bengaluru is so fancy, you’ll start looking for your boarding gate instead of your train! From neatly marked platforms to digital display boards, everything screams “airport vibes.” They’ve even got lifts, escalators, and broad staircases—basically, a fitness test is optional here. Security is everywhere, so you can strut around at midnight without worrying. Waiting areas are spacious with plenty of seating, and the washrooms? Clean enough to actually use (a rare miracle in Indian Railways). Food stalls and tea vendors are pretty solid—snacks at decent prices, and yes, you can even pay digitally (because who carries cash these days?). Staff are helpful, trains are on time, and announcements don’t sound like they’re coming from a 90s tape recorder. Now the downside: the tracks themselves. The overhead bridges are clean, but the tracks look like they’ve been on a permanent strike against Swachh Bharat. Not sure if we should blame the authorities or the public, but let’s just say the tracks could use some TLC. Overall, this place looks modern, shiny, and way too beautiful for a railway station—almost suspiciously so. Definitely a blueprint for future stations, as long as someone remembers that the tracks are part of the station too!

I just wanted to share an experience that genuinely impressed me. Shining floors where you can see your reflection, a pleasant lemon fragrance in the air, colourful roofing, sparkling clean seats, and a crowd waiting patiently – all of this was not at an international airport, but at all Platforms No. 1 There were digital information boards, smart staff in crisp uniforms, and strict security checks including X-ray scans of baggage. The waiting area had the best of reading material, clean washrooms, and even sumptuous food outlets to choose from. I truly salute the Railway Staff for maintaining such high standards. It was a proud moment to witness this transformation.

The place looks newly constructed but poorly managed. Idk if it's the authorities of the people to be questioned but the place can be maintained better. The cleanliness is still fine on the overhead bridges but serious cleaning needs to be done on the railway tracks🤮😵‍💫. Tickets can be easily accessed, both platform ones and the normal ones. Has well equipped and spacious lifts, escalators and Broad staircases mapped out. Overall, the place looks developed and something to look forward, as a design for other railway stations.

The train stopped at Bengaluru railway station, we stepped out. The railway station looked big and beautiful. So many people, moving fast. at Evening time. The sun still shining. Outside, buses, cars, autos so much noise, so much life. The city was running. The air felt fresh. The weather was perfect. I don’t know how long I will stay. Don’t know if this city is for me. But I want to go with its speed. Let’s see where it takes me.

It is new SMVT Railway station, he has quite modern look and feel it was not very much crowded and everything was nicely planned and maintained. I found the direct connectivity from other platforms to directly outside via underground subway which exits in the parking area directly, no need to go upstairs and cross other platforms, this was very good addition. Station was nicely maintained and i did not see much of scattered waste on the plaforms and it was very much clean. Waiting halls, shops, are also there and parking area is also quite big.
