The recent rain washed away parts of the road and the castle wall. But it made the castle look even more rugged and ancient. Good to stop by when you're in Ibri. Many spots for great pictures.

This must count as the most unusual tourist experience in Oman. We rocked up to the fortress and it looked closed, but a man then approached us and guided us inside. He rapidly took command of my partner’s camera and took countless photos, accompanied by detailed and specific instructions (“Walk up steps!” “Left!” “Door!”) and also provided occasional information as he was taking photos (“Number!” “Dates!” “Visitors’ Room!”) He took us all over the labyrinthine site at breakneck speed, then suddenly excused himself to go to midday prayer. He charged 5 RO though not sure if this is an official price for his services or for access to the fort.

Ruins of a mud brick city on a hill, surrounded by a wall with several towers. Built by the second imam of the Ya'rubid dynasty in the 17th century to control the oasis, the surrounding tribes, and the trade route towards Buraimi and the Tuwam region.

The ruins of Al Sulaif Fortress was date back to the 11th century. For past 3 years the restoration took place in here. Very enthusiastic guide gave us tour through the old city. Great historical place to visit. Easy to find.

Extraordinary place, full of mystery and strange sights. This place is out of time. Still under renovations the castle is not open all the time but there is a very kind guide over there who can help you to visit inside. It really worth it.

I like this place. Very unique and ancient. Very wide area to stroll. If you go by daytime, do avoid noon because it is hot and there is no shade anywhere. There are a local guide there. You can give him a tip for a walk through guide and photos.

Very interested castle

Sehr cool, kaum Leute, man kann überall rumlaufen und einige Teile werden restauriert. Eintritt frei, vormittags geöffnet. Ansehen.

As sulaif Fort is one of very oldest Fort inside have old market, shops olds doors and have small entire city Love it and enjoyable place to see historical places in Oman

The local guide is VERY energetic and assertive about taking your camera and photographing you in. every. place. available. He then reviews the photos with you before moving on. My wife said he was getting a little too close to her but we've lived in the region for a while and she's used to men treating her more like a local, not a tourist so maybe that wont bother others. (See how differently he poses - both in his stance and his smile - with me from how he poses with my wife. Thankfully this was the only him he touched her!) The price is 5 OMR per person and well worth the memorial photography if that's what you want but it was not what we had in mind when breaking up our cross-Oman roadtrip for a little castle exploration.

Bardzo stary z naturalnym pięknem ford. Trzeba uważać na ludzi którzy wyłudzają pieniądze. Zwiedzanie jest bezpłatne.

Women travelers - be very careful about the overzealous caretaker here when you visit the fort. He touches you inappropriately and it is not comfortable! We were a group of over 20 tourists visiting the crumbling ruins and he tried to grope all the women while pretending to pose for a photo with them so be warned. Men are ok...he left them alone.

قلعة السليف عمرها مئات السنين وكان يحتمي بها الاهالي زمن الحروب وفيها عدة منافذ والشرفات لمراقبة العدو وتحتوي بداخلها حي سكني يقطنه اهل المنطقة وبها بوابة كبيرة لدخول القلعة والحي السكني والان اصبحت القلعة والحي السكني مزارا للسائحين واهل المنطقة بعد ان اندثرت بفعل عوامل الطقس وهجر اهلها الى احياء حديثة بها كافة عوامل الترفيه

لقد زرت هذه القلة التاريخية الجميلة الذي بناها الامام سلطان بن سيف اليعربي التي تتكون من عدة منازل وابراج وسور كبير

حصن أثري في موقع إستراتيجي على مشارف عبري من جهة الشرق
