This was actually our third time dining here. The food was really good, and the atmosphere and views were amazing as always. Unfortunately, the service from our waiter was not great this time.
We were there to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and he chose the complimentary birthday dessert that our waiter told us was included. They came out with the drums, which was a great moment, but when the check arrived, we noticed the dessert had still been charged.
When we politely asked about it, the waiter began to argue with us, even though he had clearly told us the dessert could be chosen from the menu for free. He essentially accused us of lying, saying he never said that, and then claimed that reservations were required to receive the complimentary dessert. That would not have been an issue at all if this had been communicated upfront, but instead it was brought up only at the very end of the meal, after everything was finished. We were fully prepared to tip him as a courtesy for helping make it a special night, but the way the situation was handled was disappointing.
In addition, the waitstaff stands over you watching to see how much you tip, which is very off-putting and uncomfortable. They should take their staff to High Society to see how customers are treated there — it was a much better experience overall. It could be an amazing spot, if the service was better.
The rest of the staff were friendly, and we had no other issues. Unfortunately, our personal waiter’s behavior ended up impacting what should have been a special birthday dinner.
