Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience.
I visited this restaurant today with my parents, expecting a pleasant lunch based on the 4.9 rating and the fact that Google Maps clearly showed the restaurant as open until 10:30 p.m. This is how most travellers plan their visits, especially when coming from another city and we trusted the information shown online.
We travelled from Puri, spending ₹300 on the cab, only to be told upon arrival that they do not serve “outsiders.” This was said (Deepitish) in a disrespectful tone to my father when he politely asked why the restaurant was refusing service despite being listed as open online. There are CCTV cameras, so the behaviour can be verified.
We were later told that a wedding was happening at Sterling, and therefore the restaurant would only serve wedding guests. If that was the case, the responsible and professional thing would have been to update:
• Google Maps hours
• Their website
• Their availability
so that guests do not travel long distances only to be turned away.
Instead, we were told things like:
• “Why didn’t you call before coming?”
• “You should inform us before travelling.”
• “We won’t serve you.”
These statements are unacceptable from any hospitality establishment.
We received no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused, and no assistance in returning. We had to walk nearly 2 km to find a way back because cabs were not available in that area.
I cannot comment on the food because we were never served. But the lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and dismissive attitude we encountered make this experience one of the worst I’ve had in any hotel or restaurant.
Until they update their process, communication, and behaviour towards guests, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
