Varthur Kere

Once a lake on fire owing to the froth from effluents. Today it's surrounded by Lake-facing Apts and a tiny village at one end. It's a good place for birding. Downside, the lake it's choking with water hyacinth. More work can be done to rejuvenate the lake.

Varthur Kere is currently being de-silted. This is one of the largest Kere and is downstream of Bellandur lake. Has the potential of being one of the beautiful lake and a huge lung space once the rejuvenation efforts are fruitful.

I wish it was clean, had a nice walking clean space, had some benches to sit, strictly monitored, no plastics allowed, no food items allowed, no wastes dumped and no trucks allowed too.

Sunrise and sunset view from the lake is awesome and beautiful to take pictures that's why I have given 5star to it. Water is stagnant here and you can see building images trees images very clean and neat during sunset, that's the beauty of this lake. But Lake is dirty because contaminated drainage water is flowing into it and you can see lots of froth where water is falling down. It's second largest lake of Varthur, Government should have to take any action to clean it.

Horrible place. Try to avoid this road as much as possible. The traffic is unpredictable. Horrible road with single lane. Crazy two wheelers and autos going always in wrong side. The bridge is too narrow and damaged. Varthur signal is horrible to cross. Too crowded and hell lot of cars... For people working in itpl or Whitefield , this is an unavoidable road. But especially on Monday morning and Friday evening, better to park the car in side and sleep until traffic clears. Horrible

Varthur lake area is bigger but currently it is poisonous. Government planned to clean this but don't know when it happens. Contractor will also loot from that money. Hope for best.

Nothing so special about this place. The lake stinks and makes you suffocate. There is foam around the lake and this foam during rainy season and a windy day can be all on the road. It is one connecting route to gunjur and electronic city via Sarjapur road. But the road width is small and hence invariably result in traffic jams. There is a plant nursery on the way where you can buy plants. There is also one granite vendor from where one can buy beautiful granite items.

Most polluted lake of B'lore. Karnataka Govt/BBMP/District Minister should at least ask Guinness world record agency to consider Varthur lake for World's Top 10 worst lakes! Shame on administration for ignoring this Lake to die!

The lake ecosystem is an integral part of Bangalore, although unplanned urbanisation and industrialisation have led to the contamination of these water bodies. Varthur Lake, which has an area of 180.40 hectares (445.8 acres) is the second largest lake in Bangalore city and also one of the most polluted lakes in Bangalore. Its ecosystem is under continuous degradation because of sewage water from Bangalore, entering the lake from Bellandur Lake further upstream.

What was once a large water body is now mostly filled with weeds and color of the polluted water has turned worse..many parts of the lake are seen drying up due to weed growth..Requires large scale cleanup.

This lake is famous for all the wrong reasons. But it is very calm and picturesque during easily mornings

Completely polluted natural reserve. Will take a decade for restoration with current lake restoration policies.

Need to clean this lake as every now and there the rode is blocked due to polutent left from adjecent factory create some bubbles

Worst.. Full of drainage water... Two big cancels... Spoiling environment. Worst govt not talking care of natural resource.. instead supports spoiling it.

Lake is no more, just a pile of wasteland

Nothing to visit, totally polluated, can become morning, evening walk poace for daily goers.

Varthur lake is improving … full of birds both local and migratory
