Vermont Square Branch Library

The librarians here provide such excellent customer service. They go above and beyond to make sure we have what we need. We are really lucky to have this gem in our community. They offer free computer use, printing, and even free books right by the front door. It is also located in a park, which makes it such a peaceful and welcoming place to visit.

This is a small library with only street parking (no parking lot). We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The children’s section is immediately to your left when entering. Even though the library is small, they have used every inch of it well to put in a large amount of books. The books are organized in a way that make it easy and accessible for parents and children to find books to read. The staff is friendly and helpful. The head librarian (manager) came over to where my daughter and I were sitting and spoke to us about the summer reading program, the swim program (giving us a pass) and where to find more information. She walked around to the other families in the children’s area. The library is very neat and organized. We look forward to visiting again.

It was the most horrible experience I've ever had at a library the Staff.. incompetent, when i alerted staff to the problem their response was "all i can do is call IT" pathetic....The equipment printers scanners outdated and dont work i went to print from my email and nothing worked

El día de hoy mayo 12/25 a la 1:35 pm llevé a mis dos hijos a la visita de casa dos semanas por nuevos libros tengo un niño de 9 años y otro de 5 años el cual tiene autismo en etapa severa siempre fuimos muy bien recibidos y estábamos muy agradecidos. No estamos más de 20 minutos siempre mi hijo de 9 recoge los libros nuevos y mi hijo de 5 con autismo juega mientras tanto el le encantan los libros por eso lo llevo siempre no tiene comportamientos agresivos. Pero el día de hoy fuimos prácticamente sacados de la biblioteca porque mi hijo con autismo tiene ecolalias que hace un sonido como de canto suave yo comprendo muy bien las reglas de la biblioteca tengo muchos años yendo a las bibliotecas yo soy amante de los libros y comprendo que se requiere concentración por eso solo estamos poco tiempo para no incomodar, dejo que mi hijo explore un poco antes de decirle que nos tenemos que ir para no sacarlo en contra de su voluntad. Uno de los bibliotecarios llegó y me dijo que callara a mi hijo el niño no estaba solo siempre está bajo supervisión aún cuando conteste una llamada estaba con el todo el tiempo en el área de los niños no lo dejo ir a las otras áreas el ya sabe que tenemos que permanecer en el lugar de los niños pero el bibliotecario no me dejó explicar y me ignoro, fui a pedirle a alguien que hablara español y su respuesta era que tenía que callar al niño cuando le dije que como le quitaba ese sonido si es parte de el de esa manera el se regula dijo que tenían todo en cámara porque yo rompí las reglas y que se podían quejar, pregunte si a alguien le incomodo mi hijo y dijo que no que podía estar solamente si el niño se callaba le dije que entonces no éramos bienvenidos en la biblioteca y dijo que solamente si el niño dejaba de hacer ese sonido como puedo hacer eso si es parte de el no hubo agresividad ni el niño iso alguna cosa que perjudicará el establecimiento o las personas, nunca estuvo sin supervisión pero el pensó que era un mal comportamiento y que yo lo estaba dejando que se portará mal le dije que el niño hay cosas que no comprende aún estoy trabajando en integrarlo a lo sociedad pero la sociedad le cierra las puertas si yo hice algo malo con las reglas de la biblioteca me disculpo, pero en ningún momento vi en la puerta de la entrada que dijera que no se permiten niños con necesidades especiales si no no hubiera entrado estoy confundida triste y asustada si así le va a tocar a mí hijo siempre. Mis dos hijos salieron perjudicados ya que el de nueve años tuvo que dejar los libros de regreso porque no podemos volver allí y ver cómo era tratado su hermano pequeño, a los dos les gustan los libros y leer pero como se siente un niño de 5 años ver a su mamá defendiendo y al de 9 por el mundo que le toca. Nunca en el tiempo que he estado en esa biblioteca y en ninguna otra fuimos tratados de esta forma las otras personas que han estado allí han sido muy amables y comprensivos por eso fuimos con confianza como que fuera nuestra casa, lo lamento por las personas que estaban allí presentes pero no sé qué hice mal. Mayo 13 2025 Agradezco mucho que se preocupara por nosotros, pero yo entendí muy bien que fue lo que me dijeron no hubo mal entendido fui ignorada por el bibliotecario a la persona que pedí que me ayudara a traducir no lo hizo me contestó por el mismo y fue muy claro al decirme que mi hijo no podía estar allí si no se callaba, no volvería a un lugar donde fuimos discriminados por la condiciones de mi hijo y donde mi hijo de 9 años paso toda la tarde en shock preguntando que fue lo que hicimos mal en sus 9 años de vida nunca fuimos tratados de esa forma el es un buen estudiante y ama los libros ahora mira los libros como sí ellos tuvieron la culpa de lo que sucedió no hubo malos entendidos yo fui clara en explicar nuestras situación y no fue escuchada aún no sé qué hice mal y entiendo el ruido por eso vuelvo a repetir que solo estamos 20 minutos no más para no incomodar a nadie soy consciente de el ruido que hace mi hijo pero es parte de el y no hay manera que el pueda estar en silencio.

I got these flyers from the library about the hours and the perks of having a library card.The staff is nice and the building has great AC. There are free books outside for who want them. I like that most of the people I saw inside were college students like me, working on homework.

The staff is very helpful and it's a peaceful calming environment in a beautiful neighborhood. I really enjoy going there.

A beautiful library, clean, quit, safe . Amazing to do homework and study

This library has very helpful librarians. It is clean and usually reasonably empty. The staff is kind and works well with children. Typically there are mostly kids and parents after 3pm. I'm here at least once a week with my children and have experienced no homeless people in the library. They read stories to the younger kids at least 2 days each week.

I am thankful that this is the closest library I have to my home. The librarians are super patient and sweet while also being amazing at helping you find books or resources. The library has always been relatively empty at different times that I have visited with most visitors being children and their parents. Going to this location is always hassle free and always accompanied by great staff.

This library was the catalyst to my love for reading!!! I'm honestly shocked that it's still open. I grew up just a block away, during the late 80s and early 90s. My siblings and I would walk past the library on our way to and from school. I remember when I was grounded, this library was the only place I could go. My summers were filled with fun and adventure, because of all the amazing books that I checked out! I'm so glad to see it's still thriving!!!

Went yesterday for a gig to do face paint with my friend, the staff was incredible nice, they had the Easter event for the community over a 100 kids, the families were really happy doing all the activities and just having fun, very organized, punctual, nice environment, had a great time! Regret no having any pictures we were busy the whole time!

The library staff are awesome and super kind and friendly. I went on a friday and was intimidated as to why so many LAPD officers were present outside, but realized there was a weekly event. I’d love to study here and get more books.

Super friendly staff. Love that on Fridays LAPD read to kids. They have metro bus personnel come over as well as lawyers to inform the community. They also put out free books and coupons you can take.

Staff is very nice. Always nice to come here. You can bring your kids for read a long with LAPD every Friday @2:30pm. After 3 visits/1 free book.

Brings back memories. I used to walk to the library after school to read and check out books from 52nd St School. This was in 1960-1962. This place opened my eyes to a bigger world and it was all free! Glad this library is still there and serving the community.

Friendly environment ^_^ It has an area for kids. It's surrounded by green area and next to a park. Wi-Fi available. But parking is very scarce.

Love this place. Not modern but very historic. Staff is always friendly and helpful. My little brother can spend hours here learning and playing.

They always have something special for the kids every month

This library is great, very quiet and has a beautiful architectural design in a very well maintained building. Great place to study or borrow books.
