We stayed at The New Yorker Hotel for two nights. While the location is absolutely fantastic for getting around NYC, the actual room experience left a lot to be desired. If you are looking for a comfortable place to relax, you might want to consider other options. The good is an unbeatable location. If your primary goal is convenience, this hotel delivers. It serves as a great, central base camp for exploring the city, with easy access to transit and major attractions. The bad, cramped space & missing amenities. The room itself was incredibly disappointing when it came to size and basic features: Zero Elbow Room: The rooms are exceptionally small. After we put our luggage down, we barely had enough room to move around. It felt tight and restrictive. There is no mini-fridge in the room, which makes it impossible to keep drinks cold or store quick snacks. The bathroom layout and plumbing caused a lot of frustration during our stay. The water pressure in the sink was intensely hard, but because the sink didn’t drain properly, the water backed up instantly. It resulted in water splashing everywhere, turning the bathroom into a total mess. The Verdict: If you only care about a good location and literally just need a bed to sleep in, this place is fine. But if you value room comfort, functional plumbing, and space to breathe, keep looking.

I would not recommend to stay at this hotel at all unless it’s for location. The service sucks at the front desk and there’s no parking garage in the hotel. We had to park down the block and get a ticket and still charged us $60 a night that was the discount. The actual price was $68 to park your car there for staying at the hotel. Also, we have 5 to 8 bags each, and there was no person to help us carry it to our room because we got there a little bit after midnight. The room was a very small box and after all the money you pay, you do not have a mini refrigerator or microwave unless you pay $25 extra to have. There wasn’t even hand soap to wash your hands. This place was only good for to walk in distance to Times Square. It’s very loud at night all you hear is ambulance sirens all night. The windows are filthy. You can’t even see outside. It’s like they’re never clean. For being such a big hotel, they have no restaurants but a TikTok restaurant that the chairman doesn’t even eat there because he thinks the food is nasty and there is no pool either.

We had a lovely time in NYC. Hotel is in a great location, right next to Penn station, madison square gardens and 10 min walk to Times Square. We had a nice room, albeit small and a bit dated, but with a view to die for. We had a little issue with the room, as it was a bit noisy, and that issue was sorted within 30 minutes and we were given a new room. That’s great service. Shout out to the person responsible for that, we didn’t get his name, I believe he was the manager in charge of customer experience (?). Room cleanliness was decent. Security team was friendly. Things that could be improved: little small touches like a few complimentary bottles of water on arrival would be nice. Bit unnecessary to pay fee to store luggage, as never experienced such thing, either in great hotels or more modest ones (5 dollar per item). All in all, it’s all about location and comfort , location was great, bed was comfy, bathrooms could have been more modern but they did the job, the only issue we encountered was resolved promptly. View was pretty magical. All in all, we had a great time in NYC and this hotel was a nice choice. Loads of restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

Check in was generally okay, long queue but it was as expected. Room was mediocre but we were out all day, therefore had no real issues. However the issues started after our trip had ended. Upon arrival you have to pay a security deposit for the room, standard procedure I am aware. We travelled from the UK as did many people. We paid 137 pounds as a security deposit, and when leaving were informed that we would be refunded 8-10 days after departure. This was not the case. After 2 months I informed my bank, they stated that they could see the transaction - however they had no released the funds on their end. It is now June 8th of time of writing this - I have finally received the money back - 5 months later after leaving. Incredibly poor experience, the helpline refuse to help regarding any sort of payment issues. Diabolical. NYC is beautiful and the hotel definitely does the job well enough. But this ordeal completely ruined my thoughts on this hotel.

Historisches Hotel in zentraler Lage.

It is a great place, pay the extra and get the room high up. I got a room in 39th floor and it was great! The view! Some rooms have a patio and/or balcony, it is worth getting those. 1. Very friendly staff. Mohammed was so nice! 2. Business center is very well organized, comfortable and has everything one needs. I was able to conduct all my business here after check out. Bigger rooms have office area, so unless you need to print something, business center was not needed. 3. Gym is well equipped and great. 4. Entry way is nice and its location was perfect for my purposes, so I cannot recommend this enough. 5. Black out curtains make sleeping very comfortable, windows sealed well, so you won't hear the noise. Comfortable bed and lots of extra towels and robe in the room. All in all, my second favorite hotel in NYC. I had the misfortune of staying in some terrible hotels in town, but all the ones that I have chosen been great and this is one of them. Starts at $200 or more a night, but the comfort and the view is worth it. Highly recommend!

Stay at the New Yorker by Lotte for 5 nights – overall a positive experience with a few drawbacks. The hotel has an old-school feel, a bit dated, but with a real retro charm that gives it character. The rooms are comfortable, especially the beds. We were lucky to be upgraded upon arrival thanks to Mohammed at the front desk, whom I would like to especially thank. He was outstanding: very professional, kind, attentive, and genuinely focused on making our stay as pleasant as possible. He also allowed us a late check-out at 12 pm instead of 11 am, which was much appreciated. The location is a major advantage: very central, well connected to multiple subway lines, and within walking distance of many attractions, including Madison Square Garden. Note: if your room faces MSG, it can be a bit noisy on event nights, even on higher floors. A few downsides: * The breakfast, served at the Tick Tock Restaurant, is very basic (hot drink, orange juice, and a simple choice like muffin, bagel, toasts). For a more complete breakfast, you need to pay extra, which quickly becomes expensive. It’s better to eat elsewhere. * Luggage storage is charged ($5 per bag), which is unusual for a hotel of this standing. * No fridge in the room, which can be inconvenient, especially during summer. Overall: a well-located hotel with retro charm and excellent front desk service, but some secondary services could be improved.

Overall stay was good. Hotel does need to invest in brining it up to date. Hallway carpets are old and a fresh coat of paint would help. But it is an Icon of NYC and some of the spaces in the hotel are historic. In terms of service, we had an exceptional experience with Naida Aldama who took care of us from A to Z. Thank you Naida, you're awesome!!!! Also the staff at the Mailroom was great, we had a lot of packages come thru for the Westminster Dog Show and Ms Henry took care of us, what a personality and positivity. Two great professionals and NYC hotel should be proud to have them on their staff. One more thing, Tic Toc dinner was great, staff and food were fantastic, nothing like a late nite (1AM) to get a nice meal with great service. Thank you NYC Hotel and NYC overall, had fun!

2nd stay at The New Yorker. Rooms are small ( You can upgrade to a larger room at nominal cost.). Hotel is in a great location...hotel is in need of a bit of sprucing up, but very clean & functional. Staff is courteous and helpful. When we checked in, Mohammed at the front desk was lovely and went out of his way to make sure we had an A ++ sta.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. Though great location, the service is abysmal. This hotel charged me $500 smoking fee (which is actually $561 on the credit card), which is crazy because neither one of us have smoked a day in our lives. You don’t even a chance to defend yourself — no room checks or anything. The smoke report is “infallible,” and any further investigation is just reading the smoke report twice. So basically, they hit you with this substantial charge, and basically say “deal with it.” The manager told me there is nothing he could do and that I could either email corporate or dispute with my credit card company (really???? You’re bringing a third-party into this hotel matter??). You literally don’t have a chance to prove your innocence. They won’t hear it. They don’t care. They are literally stealing $561. I am deeply disgusted by this hotel’s practices and would warn against anyone staying here.

BEWARE!!! They will charge you for multiple $500 “smoking fees” with zero evidence. I stayed here with my little sister for her 17th birthday. Despite the bad reviews, there were enough positives to overlook them. Unfortunately, the rooms were worse than I imagined. Super small, and our TV wasn’t even plugged in…I had to get down on the floor and get under the dresser to discover this and plus it in. The bathrooms were extremely outdated, and the showers went from super hot to super cold for no reason. The biggest reason not to stay at this hotel is that they charged me not one, but TWO $500 SMOKING FEES even though my sister and I do not smoke. I inquired as to what times the sensor was activated and, surprise, they were when we showered and blow dryed our hair. I was not even alerted to this until I checked my credit card statement. I never got an invoice by email, and simple received a text that the hotel is “going green” and therefore would need to check my receipt on the room TV. The staff was less than concerned when I called to point out that over $1k was erroneously charged to my account. The scary thing is that, unless I had gone through my statements, the hotel never would have alerted me to these fees. DO NOT STAY HERE!

I am very disappointed with my experience at The New Yorker Hotel in New York. The biggest issue was the customer service. One of the front desk employees was extremely rude, arrogant, and dismissive when we asked for assistance. We fully understand that hotels have policies and rules, but there is a respectful and professional way to communicate them. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. We had already paid for our stay and asked whether we could check in a day later without requesting a refund. We were told that if we did not check in on the original date, we would lose the entire reservation. While we understand hotel policies, the lack of empathy and professionalism in the way this was explained was disappointing. Another frustration was the “included breakfast.” Based on the way it was presented, we expected a reasonable hotel breakfast. Instead, it consisted of a very small glass of orange juice, a croissant or bagel, and a choice between regular coffee or hot chocolate. Specialty coffee options such as cappuccino were not included, and if you chose not to take the breakfast, the value assigned to it was only $5. For a hotel of this reputation and price range, this felt misleading and extremely poor value. The restaurant experience was not any better. The food was bland, flavorless, and far below expectations. The waitstaff were also unfriendly and not helpful. Because of the poor customer service, disappointing dining experience, and lack of value overall, we decided not to stay for the entire week we had originally planned and left early. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works on improving both customer service and the dining experience. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.

This hotel made our first ever stay in New York very comfortable. The location is excellent, and is in walking distance to many of the main attractions, a subway station, and plenty of great food places. The staff were all lovely and welcoming, and maintained a high degree of security for entrance to the hotel which was reassuring. The rooms were also kept very clean, and Elena from housekeeping was a lovely and friendly lady who ensured a high quality of cleaning while also being incredibly welcoming to us and sweet and kind. All in all, a great stay at a great hotel. We’d love to come back and stay again and would highly recommend.

Overall, not a horrible hotel. But the one star is needed because this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Location is indeed superb, everything is nearby. Inside, the rooms are very small, you can barely fit a large suitcase. The hotel is very old, the bathrooms don’t have any toiletries, except for a bar of soap and shampoo. You’d expect a lot more for the price. No mini bar, no fridge. And sweet god: the walls are paper thin. You can hear the entire corridor from your room, and they can hear you. The room service is actually not bad, the cleaners do generally clean well, change bed sheets, change towels and so on. But my god, the hotel should make proper cleaning more regular. Attached is an image of a ventilation system in the bathroom.

Location was great but the room was too small, bed was too small and the bed sheets and carpet didn’t feel hygenic. Also you can hear someone taking a shower next door. The cleaning person wakes you up every 10am to check if you are out yet

I had a great stay at this lovely hotel. Mohammad at check in was wonderful. He was helpful throughout my stay and made me feel so welcome. Everyone at this hotel is friendly and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. The location is fantastic. It’s so close to Madison Square Garden that it was faster to go to the room than wait in line for a restroom at the concert I attended. Semira was also extremely kind and helpful when it came to complications with the our room keys she took care of it to the best of her ability. The security does a fantastic job keeping this place safe and I really appreciate how fast the elevators work in this busy hotel. Housekeeping was also amazing. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re in the area. I’ve already booked my next stay this summer.
