Staff were polite and I had no problem getting my money back after canceling the transfer. There was some confusion during the process, but overall a decent experience.

Works most of the time but amazingly unreliable for internal hawala transfers. Either don’t have the actual amount of cash - despite accepting this at their other locations in Iraq, or come up with rubbish about arabic vs western spelling on ID card! They just play dumb (not hard TBF) when they are low on currency. Would not recommend for emergency transfers but ok if you have all the time in the world.

Western Union in Iraq feels like a total scam — it operates like a gang. I’m shocked that WU hasn’t taken action despite so many bad reviews. Honestly, I believe they know exactly what’s happening and allow it to continue because someone is benefiting from it. They refuse to give people their money, or they give a different amount. They charge people twice for transaction fees and often refuse to pay in U.S. dollars, even when the sender chose dollars. It’s very frustrating, and unfortunately, I will report them to Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

Basically, they will tell you that the system is down or transfers are blocked currently and will offer a transfer through local third parties (which is basically less secure for you but more profitable for him).

The staff were all on their phone texting and calling. I had to wait for a while in order to get their attention. They were very rude and because they are eating they didn’t make the moneygram transfer for me. I’m sure the owner of the place is not aware that his staff are dealing with the customers like this. Please go to other nearby shops this one is the worst

This is a Western Union location (saw someone post that it wasn’t) There was like a $10 fee and it took some waiting (like 10-15 min) but the staff were pretty helpful.
