Visiting Windsor Castle is an unforgettable experience and a true journey through British history. As the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, it is incredibly well maintained and rich in heritage. The State Apartments are breathtaking, filled with magnificent artwork, royal treasures, and elegant interiors.
St George’s Chapel is especially moving — its architecture is stunning, and it holds immense historical and spiritual significance as the resting place of many monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II. The castle grounds are beautifully kept, offering lovely views and a peaceful atmosphere.
From the Queen's Gallery, we enjoyed the stunning elevated views of the 5,000-acre Windsor Great Park. and even saw members of the Royal Family riding in a horse-drawn carriage. For a moment, surrounded by such a magnificent royal presence, we felt like royalty ourselves.
The parade of the Royal Guards, dressed in their iconic red uniforms and tall bearskin hats, a sight that perfectly captured the grandeur of British royal tradition.
On another visit to the castle, our purpose was to attend Holy Mass at the magnificent St George’s Chapel, the palace church. We were blessed to attend the Sung Eucharist at 10:45 a.m. on a Sunday, an experience that was truly holy and uplifting. As it was Sunday, sightseeing was not permitted in certain areas of the castle, including the resting place of Queen Elizabeth II.
The staff are professional and helpful, and the audio guide adds great depth to the visit. It’s well worth spending several hours here to fully appreciate everything. Windsor Castle is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history, architecture, or the British royal family.
