This museum is amazing perfect place to bring your friends and family. They have concerts during the summertime and a lot of outdoor sculptures for you to enjoy with your family. The membership is very reasonable and they have lots of different activities for all ages. Highly suggest suggested for anyone looking for something to do in the Chestnut Hill area.

Amazing hidden gem, and we barely touched on the collection. I loved that so many pieces connected to local artists or Philadelphia and main line settings, so for example, you could see a view of the old papermill on the Wissahickon as it was, or what a section of Germantown looked like in 1863 (hint: beautiful wilderness). All in all their collection was well curated and interesting: the rotating collection in particular had interesting commentary to help inform techniques and articulate artist inspiration. To arrive by car, the entrance off of Germantown Avenue should have been better labeled. Some of the door transitions were harder to navigate in a wheelchair without help. We will still be back for the Syd Carpenter pottery show!

Great exhibitions and collections. Sometimes host music but the main auditorium is acoustically very poor. The art, grounds and statuary are well worth a visit. My photos are all of many pieces of work by the ceramist, Syd Carpenter, displaying 50 years of the creative process to the present day.

I was awestruck by the exhibit that honors black farmers. My Dad grew up on a farm during the 1930s and I know he would have loved this exhibit. I felt close to him as I wandered among the amazing art works. The building and outdoor sculptures are breathtaking. The round room and balcony above it are perfect settings for art. This museum is truly a treasure. And Sundays are free admission!

Lovely museum. From the outside, where there is are and spaces to sit and enjoy, to the inside. We were greeted with a smile and provided a map. The museum is free all summer. There are paintings, sculptures, and various types of art displayed. It was great to learn about the different artists and their inspiration for each peace. You can take as long as you to move through each room. This made for a nice afternoon activity.

I am in awe of this place! Their free admission Sunday offer is wonderful to me. The outdoor gardens are stunning. The art seen inside is just timeless in so many ways. I found the older section of the building told the most amount of history + the artwork seen in those galleries left me speechless. The light fixtures alone are like time capsules with an artistic flair. I will be going back often on Sundays to explore of the museum and all it has to offer.

Second floor is closed. I spent around 40 minutes there. Sundays are free of admission fee. I like the idea having a student art work section.

Free on Sundays. They have a nice-sized parking lot. There are sculptures outside surrounding the museum. Inside, there’s the ticket counter and a small museum gift shop behind it. The museum focuses on artists of Philadelphia which is a neat concept. There’s some great art to be found here. They also have a small room for works by children.

The museum is beautifully curated and the Bermudez exhibit which is why I came was stunning. However I didn’t feel very comfortable walking about the museum, in every room I entered I turned to see what I believed to be security or the curator (woman) close behind me. This was my first visit and it made me extremely uncomfortable: as a black woman it felt as if I was being watched. When I was only attempting to enjoy my day off.

Great museum! Went for their last Summer Jazz show of the season, there are other shows that occur throughout the year. The band plays a different artist or genre every event. It was nice to bring a chair and snacks and listen to music surrounded by their outdoor which is very creative and beautiful. They have a yearly membership you can get or pay as you attend. A museum worth seeing! #museum #jazz

Wonderful grounds with nice porch to sit and eat lunch on. Many outdoor sculpture to see before even entering the museum. Well air conditioned. Many works of art to see , mostly modern post 1980s but also some older works . Includes paintings, mixed media, sculpture, furniture, clocks, jewelry, silver, and stained glass. Wonderful gift shop with reasonable prices and friendly staff.

It’s our second time visiting the Museum and it was Sunday. It’s a beautiful place to visit with your family. The handmade paintings were breathtaking. However, we were constantly followed by a staff member wherever we went. I had my 3.5year toddler and my husband with me. My toddler wanted to use the restroom and it was interesting to get knocked as soon as we got into the restroom. We are there to visit not to mess with anything. It was not very pleasant that you are being watched and treated that way even when you go to the restroom . I hope no one has to go through this when they are visiting a beautiful place like this.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The museum itself is beautiful, but the experience was absolutely ruined by the staff. The front desk person was incredibly rude to my boyfriend. He was asking simple, genuine questions, and they acted visibly annoyed and dismissive. I actually had to walk away because the attitude was that bad. And it didn’t stop there. We were literally followed. Not one… but three different men trailed us through the galleries. Every time I caught them, they pretended to look at the art, but it was obvious. It made us feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and honestly, it took all the joy out of what should’ve been a relaxing visit. I wanted to love this place. I really did. But after how we were treated, this was our first and definitely our last visit.

My visit to Woodmere Art Museum was amazing. Each and every piece of art on display is from a Philadelphia based artist, which gives it that special edge and extra authenticity. There were pieces and exhibitions representing the many facets of Philadelphia, and pieces ranging from abstract sculptures, watercolour, acrylic paintings, charcoal drawings… Each with its on unique story. The Art Museum was originally the home of the founder Charles Knox Smith, and even after its numerous expansions and extensions, the original house still remains (with some of its furniture e.g. a gorgeous chandelier) and houses most of the more historic art pieces.

It’s free on Sundays! I wish entering the lot wasn’t an issue you have to be mindful depending on the side you enter on. Nice layout!

The Woodmere Art Museum is a hidden gem on the outskirts of Philly near the Morris Arboretum. We visited on a weekday morning. We were impressed to see guides leading collection overview tours for both art students and a senior group. The museum houses art and PA artists collected by local founder Charles Knox Smith. The children's gallery was a surprise delight! Their Inspired by Nature exhibit features papier mache creatures of the woods and sea, all crafted by children. There is a Sculpture garden that circles the grounds plus a pollinator garden in the back.

Local artists featured in changing exhibits, with info about each piece posted. I really enjoyed reading about each piece as I went through the museum. The sculpture outside is interesting, bizarre, and unexpected. A nice way to spend an hour on a Sunday afternoon for sure.

This was a beautiful and memorable art museum with old painting preserved still. During initial days of covid pandemic it was less crowded when we visited. Spend almost 2 hours and time passed by observing the paintings.
