I can say only it "was" a good place to work and stay. But now too much crowded and the facility provided to contractors are pathetic. Zirku Island is an island in the Persian Gulf about 75 miles (140 km) northwest of the city of Abu Dhabi and belongs to the United Arab Emirates. The island is 7.47 km2 in size and has a height of 161 meters. Until 1978, Zirku was a refuge for cormorants and other birds until the Zakum Development Company began development for oil processing. Today there are oil refining facilities, a petroleum terminal and an airport on the island. More recently, ZADCO has commissioned studies to study biodiversity on the island. According to a report from August 2015, more than 1000 people live and work on the island. Zirku has no own freshwater resources and was therefore never naturally inhabited.

It's a beautiful natural island 🏝️. I have worked here for a few months in the oil and gas field.we spent there very memorable days with my friends, co workers , team members. We enjoyed it there , The swimming pool is also available there for all people.go there, work for 2 to 4 months and go back home for vacation....

An exotic island everyone cannot visit. "It is such a beautiful island, but it is closed to the public. 1979 during construction i was in this island, then up to 2018 many time work in this island also Das Island really now i feel very nice place 1979 many snakes only available in this island

A large island in the middle of Persian Gulf somewhere near Qatar borders. An oil refinary owned by Abu Dhabi government is here. A small landing strip, play grounds, industrtial area, swimming pool, large accommodation facility and wonderful mess for workers. It is a highly restricted area, allowed by work permits only and security pass by government. No go area for tourists. Only for oil field workers.

I worked on the commissioning of Zirku and Central Complex 1983ish? Basically bringing the island utilities on line at the area close to the airport. Not much on the island in those days but good to see how it has expanded. Almost went back there just a couple of years back while we were discussing contract possibilities with Adma. It would have been good to see it again but I ended up going back to Bangladesh.

Not good for contractors. Poor accommodation and food. No WiFi and some camps don't even have mobile signal.

In this island I perform my duty 12hrs daily as A safety Officer @Sarb Project by Main Contractor-HDEC.

Calm and nice island... Those who are medically fit and CICPA clearance is must.. Only for oil field workers...
